About IES

IES Utilities Group is a leading UK utility provider delivering end-to-end multi-discipline solutions. Our teams operate across Power, Gas, Water, Telecoms, District Heating and Renewables, providing survey, design, construction, and maintenance services nationwide.

With a commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability, IES supports clients in building and maintaining resilient, future-ready infrastructure networks across the UK.

About the Role

Due to continued growth across our infrastructure and utilities divisions, we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Chartered Civil Engineer to join our Engineering Team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, review, delivery, production, and control of site Temporary Works, and the development of civil engineering solutions supporting a diverse portfolio of utility and infrastructure projects throughout the UK.

Working closely with operational, commercial, and project delivery teams, you will provide technical leadership, engineering assurance, Temporary Works governance, and professional expertise across multiple projects from concept through to completion.

You will be responsible for ensuring that both permanent and temporary engineering solutions are developed, reviewed, and implemented in accordance with relevant legislation, industry standards, client requirements, and company procedures. The role will involve managing engineering risk, supporting construction delivery teams, and ensuring the safe and effective coordination of Temporary Works throughout all project phases.

As a Chartered Engineer, you will act as a technical authority within the business, supporting project teams, mentoring developing engineers, engaging with clients and stakeholders, and contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering standards across the organisation.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to major utility and infrastructure schemes while supporting the ongoing development of engineering capability within IES. Regular travel to the Manchester Head Office and project sites across the UK will be required to support project delivery, client engagement, engineering assurance activities, and site-based Temporary Works coordination.

  • Support bid submissions, tenders, and framework opportunities with technical input.
  • Represent IES professionally across industry forums and stakeholder engagements.

Mentoring and Professional Development

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
