Assistant Front Office Manager – Kimpton Mayfair Hotel Adelaide
Join the iconic Kimpton Mayfair Hotel Adelaide as we step into something new.
Nestled in the heart of Adelaide’s vibrant CBD, the beloved Mayfair Hotel is entering an exciting new chapter—transforming into Kimpton Mayfair Adelaide in 2027.
At Kimpton, we do things differently. We’re the original boutique lifestyle brand—known for delivering luxury with a wink: sophisticated, yes—but never stuffy. We create spaces that feel, experiences that connect, and moments that are personal, playful and a little unexpected.
This is your opportunity to be part of a transformation where timeless elegance meets bold personality—bringing together the Mayfair’s distinctive character with Kimpton’s signature energy, creativity and human connection.
We are on the lookout for a Assistant Front Office Manager!
As Assistant Front Office Manager, you'll support the Rooms Division Manager in leading the Front Office team and delivering the distinctive Kimpton guest experience. You'll take ownership of Front Office standards, team performance, guest satisfaction and daily operations, ensuring the department runs smoothly while contributing to the hotel's overall goals.
When rostered as Duty Manager, you'll also provide operational leadership across the hotel, supporting all departments and ensuring our guests and colleagues are well looked after. While this is an important part of the role, your primary focus will remain on leading and developing the Front Office team and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
A little taste of your day-to-day
- Leading, supporting and motivating the Front Office team to deliver Kimpton's distinctive style of warm, personalised service.
- Creating an inclusive and collaborative team environment where colleagues feel supported, valued and empowered to succeed.
- Coaching and developing colleagues through regular feedback, onboarding, training and cross-training opportunities.
- Coordinating daily Front Office operations, staffing, shift priorities and task allocation to meet business levels and guest needs.
- Leading pre-shift briefings, communicating arrivals, VIPs, special occasions, guest preferences and operational priorities.
- Being a visible and approachable presence, building genuine guest connections and ensuring every guest feels welcomed and valued.
- Taking ownership of guest feedback, complaints and service recovery, resolving concerns with empathy and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
- Working closely with Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Reservations and other departments to deliver a seamless guest journey.
- Driving Front Office performance by identifying opportunities to maximise occupancy, room rates, ancillary revenue and IHG One Rewards enrolments.
- Overseeing guest billing, account accuracy, credit procedures and Front Office financial controls, including the Night Audit function when required.
- Monitoring guest feedback, service standards and operational performance, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensuring Front Office operations meet IHG and Kimpton standards, including brand compliance, health and safety, security, privacy and responsible business practices.
- When rostered as Duty Manager, providing operational leadership across the hotel, coordinating responses to incidents and emergencies and ensuring effective communication between departments.
What do we need from you
- Qualification in Hotel Management, Hospitality or Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years' hotel Front Office experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Proven ability to lead, coach and develop teams, driving a positive and high-performing culture.
- Strong knowledge of Front Office operations, hotel systems (ideally Opera Cloud), Night Audit and guest billing.
- Demonstrated experience managing guest complaints, service recovery and operational challenges.
- Commercial acumen, with an understanding of hotel revenue, occupancy, ADR and departmental performance.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- A genuine passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional, personalised guest experiences.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and public holidays, and undertake Duty Manager responsibilities.
- Fluency in English; additional languages advantageous.
- Valid working rights in Australia.
