Lola’s Waterfront Dining is looking for an experienced, hands-on Sous Chef to join our culinary team. We are seeking someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant, takes pride in food quality and presentation, and knows how to lead a kitchen team during busy service.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable working alongside the Executive Chef to maintain consistency, control food costs, and ensure smooth daily kitchen operations.

What you will be doing

  • Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, including preparation, cooking, and service.
  • Supervise and support line cooks, prep cooks, and other kitchen staff.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, portion control, and presentation.
  • Work hands-on during busy lunch, dinner, weekend, and holiday services.
  • Ensure food is prepared and delivered accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist with ordering, inventory management, food costs, and waste reduction.
  • Monitor food storage, labeling, rotation, and proper handling procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
  • Assist with training, scheduling, and developing kitchen employees.
  • Communicate effectively with front-of-house management to ensure smooth service.
  • Step in and lead kitchen operations in the Executive Chef’s absence.

What you bring to the table

  • Minimum 3 years of culinary experience, preferably including Sous Chef or kitchen supervisory experience.
  • Experience working in a high-volume, full-service restaurant.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and work alongside a diverse culinary team.
  • Experience with inventory, food cost control, and ordering.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused during high-volume service.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to quality.
