About the Role

Inc42 is looking for an experienced Tech & AI Correspondent to cover the evolving technology landscape, with a sharp focus on artificial intelligence, emerging technologies and their impact on businesses, industries and the broader economy.

The role involves breaking news, driving original reporting, developing exclusive story ideas, building strong industry sources and tracking the companies, people and developments shaping India's technology ecosystem.

We are looking for a journalist with strong news instincts, deep curiosity about technology, a keen understanding of AI and the ability to deliver accurate, insightful and impactful journalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead coverage of breaking news and developments across artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, enterprise tech, SaaS and the broader technology ecosystem.
  • Track developments in generative AI, large language models (LLMs), AI infrastructure, agentic AI, automation and other emerging technology segments.
  • Break exclusive stories and produce original news reports, interviews, features, explainers and analytical pieces.
  • Identify emerging trends, industry developments, product innovations, funding activity and regulatory changes.
  • Build and maintain a strong network of sources, including founders, CXOs, technology leaders, investors, researchers and policymakers.
  • Develop original story ideas and pursue enterprise reporting that offers fresh perspectives and deeper insights.
  • Simplify complex technological developments and translate them into accessible, engaging journalistic narratives.
  • Independently manage the reporting pipeline and deliver high-quality stories within editorial deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the editorial team to strengthen Inc42's technology and AI coverage.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5-8 years of experience in technology journalism, business journalism or digital media.
  • Strong understanding of India's startup and technology ecosystem.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, generative AI and emerging technologies.
  • Proven track record of breaking news, producing exclusive stories and delivering original reporting.
  • Excellent writing, reporting, research and interviewing skills.
  • Established industry sources and the ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Strong editorial judgment and the ability to identify compelling, newsworthy story angles.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple stories and operate in a fast-paced newsroom.
  • Familiarity with AI tools, technology products and the evolving digital landscape.
