The posting

At IEM, we’re not just building innovative electrical distribution systems, we’re shaping the future. IEM is dedicated to delivering world-class solutions for complex power needs. After 75 years, we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible. Whether you’re an experienced professional or just starting out, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute, grow, and make a lasting impact on industries that power the world’s most dynamic markets.

Position Summary:

IEM is currently seeking a Warehouse Supervisor for our San Antonio, TX location and will report into the Logistics Manager.

This position will be based temporarily in NE San Antonio while our new manufacturing plant is coming online. Our permanent location is approximately 25 minutes away at Brooks, 7515 Inner Circle Dr., San Antonio, 78235. The position is also 100% in-office and does not offer remote work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily warehouse operations, including receiving, put away, storage, picking, staging, and shipping of electrical equipment and materials.
  • Lead, schedule, and coach the warehouse team, including the dedicated drivers who move product with pallet jacks. Assign work, set priorities, and keep the team working safely.
  • Operate a forklift to stage, load, and unload materials, finished equipment, and trucks as needed.
  • Work with the Logistics Manager on carrier pickups and deliveries, including pickup times and special handling needs.
  • Enter receiving, inventory, and shipping information into the computer system and keep it accurate and up to date.
  • Prepare and check shipping paperwork, such as bills of lading and packing lists, and report mistakes right away.
  • Keep warehouse records organized and easy to find, including receiving documents, packing lists, signed delivery proof, and damage reports.
  • Partner with Production, Production Planning, and Quality to make sure materials are where they are needed and finished equipment ships on time.
  • Make sure large and heavy equipment is stored, blocked, braced, and secured correctly to prevent damage.
  • Enforce plant safety rules and safe use of forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment.
  • Run regular inventory counts, find the cause of any count differences, and fix them.
  • Help plan and set up the warehouse layout, storage, equipment, and work routines for the new manufacturing plant as it comes online.
  • Flexible and adaptable team player who operates with agility and resourcefulness and thrives in an often-changing environment. You will be operating with a start-up mindset and must be willing to help wherever needed - "not my job" is an unacceptable response.

Ideal Candidate Profile (Optional):

A hands-on warehouse leader who is comfortable on the floor and at a desk. You keep a steady eye on safety, take pride in an organized warehouse with accurate inventory, and enjoy building a new operation from the ground up.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field is preferred
  • 3 or more years of experience in warehouse, shipping, or receiving work in a manufacturing setting, including at least 1 year leading a team
  • Working knowledge of bills of lading, packing lists, and basic shipping paperwork
  • Comfortable entering data and keeping records in an ERP system and Microsoft Excel (Infor SyteLine is a plus)
  • Forklift experience with a current certification (or the ability to get certified), and working knowledge of OSHA safety rules
  • Experience leading team members who work with pallet jacks and other material handling equipment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work well with drivers, Production, and teams across the plant
  • Experience in electrical equipment, switchgear, or similar heavy manufacturing is a plus
  • Demonstrated career ambition with a track record of growth and increasing responsibility; highly promotable with the potential to take on broader leadership roles within a fast-paced, high-growth organization

Workplace Conditions:

Physical Demands

  • Activities: Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching on the warehouse floor and shipping dock. Regular forklift operation, plus desk and computer work for data entry and records.
  • Lifting: Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Heavier items are moved with a forklift, crane, or help from the team.
  • Vision: Close vision to read paperwork and screens, plus distance vision and depth perception to oversee warehouse activity and truck loading safely.

Mental Demands - Manage several deadlines and changing priorities at once, make quick decisions, pay close attention to detail on inventory counts and documents, and communicate clearly with the team and other departments.

Environment - Manufacturing plant, warehouse, shipping dock, and office. Exposure to noise, moving equipment such as forklifts and cranes, and outdoor weather at the truck dock. Safety glasses, steel toe boots, and hearing protection are required in plant areas.

Compensation actually offered for this role will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
