The posting

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Manager, Marine Safety & Quality to join a well-established and internationally recognised container shipping group at its global headquarters.

This role plays a critical part in strengthening fleet safety performance, accident prevention, emergency response readiness, and continuous improvement across vessel and shore operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong seagoing credentials combined with solid shore-based safety management experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the investigation and analysis of marine incidents, accidents, and security events, ensuring accurate reporting and structured follow-up.
  • Analyse incident trends and safety data to identify root causes, patterns, and preventive measures.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate fleet-wide safety policies, circulars, and countermeasures.
  • Provide practical safety and operational advice to vessel operations, chartering, and post-fixture teams.
  • Support and enhance safety-related training for shore staff and seafarers, including pre-joining briefings.
  • Monitor and research new maritime regulations, industry developments, and emerging technologies related to marine safety and quality.
  • Coordinate and support crisis management activities during serious incidents, including maintaining emergency response plans and conducting drills.
  • Participate in cross-functional and ad-hoc projects related to fleet safety, quality, and risk management.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma from a recognised Maritime Academy / Marine University or equivalent.
  • Master Mariner with sailing experience on container vessels.
  • Minimum 2 years of shore-based experience in roles such as DPA, Deputy DPA, Marine Superintendent, or Marine/Manning Manager within a shipowner or ship management organisation.
  • Hands-on experience managing vessel emergencies or casualties from a shore-based role.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across multicultural and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in incident data analysis, trend review, or safety statistics will be an advantage.

Why this role

  • Global headquarters exposure with strong visibility and influence.
  • Opportunity to shape fleet-wide safety culture and operational resilience.
  • A balanced role combining technical depth, strategic oversight, and crisis leadership.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
