The successful candidate will be involved in developing fleet investment plans, evaluating vessel procurement opportunities and leading commercial engagements with international shipyards. This position requires a combination of strong shipping market knowledge, commercial negotiation expertise and financial acumen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage newbuilding and vessel acquisition projects, including commercial evaluations, procurement strategies, contract negotiations and delivery coordination.
  • Lead negotiations with international shipyards on vessel pricing, construction terms, contractual arrangements and delivery schedules.
  • Evaluate vessel investment opportunities through commercial assessments, financial analysis, profitability projections and feasibility studies.
  • Monitor developments in international S&P and shipbuilding markets, including newbuilding prices, yard availability, market conditions and commercial opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with shipyards, S&P brokers and other relevant maritime stakeholders.
  • Work closely with internal technical, commercial, finance and legal teams to facilitate procurement decisions and project execution.
  • Prepare commercial proposals, investment assessments and market recommendations for management review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Business, Finance, Engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with a shipowner, shipping company, shipbroker or related maritime organisation.
  • Proven experience in vessel Sale & Purchase (S&P), newbuilding procurement and/or vessel acquisition activities.
  • Good understanding of shipbuilding markets, vessel pricing, commercial contracting and shipyard negotiation practices.
  • Strong exposure to international shipyards, particularly within the Chinese shipbuilding market.
  • Good commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to evaluate vessel investments and assess project profitability.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Business-level proficiency in English and Mandarin/Chinese to support commercial discussions and negotiations with Chinese counterparties.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

We welcome applications from suitably qualified maritime professionals with a strong commercial background in vessel S&P, shipbuilding or newbuilding procurement.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
