The posting

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Vessel Manager (Tankers) for one of our established global shipowner's clients. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the technical management of assigned tanker vessels, ensuring safe and reliable operations in line with company SMS, class, flag, statutory and industry requirements.
  • Monitor vessel condition, planned maintenance, defects, performance and operational reports; follow up with shipboard teams to close technical matters in a timely manner.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to Masters, Chief Engineers and vessel teams, including troubleshooting, repairs and coordination with OEMs / third-party service providers.
  • Plan, control and review vessel OPEX / CAPEX, spares, stores, lubricants and consumables to support safe operations while maintaining budget discipline.
  • Work closely with commercial / operations teams to support voyage and charter requirements, reduce off-hire exposure and maintain vessel availability.
  • Track class, statutory, trading certificates, surveys, audits and inspection requirements; ensure vessels are prepared for PSC, vetting, class and internal / external audits.
  • Plan and manage dry-docking / repair projects, including work scope preparation, budgeting, vendor coordination, progress tracking and variance reporting.
  • Conduct vessel visits and inspections when required to assess vessel condition, engage ship staff and drive follow-up actions.
  • Coach and guide senior shipboard personnel to strengthen technical standards, ship-shore communication and operational discipline.
  • Prepare regular updates for Fleet Management on vessel condition, budget status, outstanding technical issues and action plans.

Requirements

  • Class 1 Marine Engineer CoC / Chief Engineer background preferred.
  • At least 2 years of shore-based technical management experience with tankers.
  • Minimum 8 years of sea-going experience, preferably on tanker vessels.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, project management and budget control skills.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
