Job Description:

Join Intel's Communications Runtime team and help build the communication software stack powering the world's largest AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC) workloads. As a Senior AI Software Development Engineer, you will architect, develop, and optimize the oneAPI Collective Communications Library (oneCCL), enabling scalable, high-performance communication across Intel CPU and GPU platforms.

In this role, you will solve complex distributed systems challenges spanning collective communication algorithms, communication runtimes, networking technologies, operating systems, and large-scale AI training infrastructure. You will work across the software stack, collaborating with architects, researchers, and engineers to deliver breakthrough performance for AI model training, scientific computing, and next-generation distributed computing workloads.

This is a highly visible technical role with opportunities to influence Intel's software roadmap, contribute to open-source communities, and drive innovations that scale across thousands of processors and accelerators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize collective communication algorithms and runtime capabilities within oneCCL.
  • Improve scalability, latency, bandwidth utilization, resilience, and overall communication performance across distributed systems.
  • Lead performance optimization initiatives for multi-node and multi-accelerator AI and HPC workloads.
  • Investigate and resolve complex system-level performance, reliability, and interoperability issues.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware architects, software engineers, researchers, open-source contributors, and strategic customers.
  • Contribute to and influence open-source communication and networking technologies.
  • Drive engineering decisions through data-driven analysis and performance insights.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong software development experience using C/C++.
  • Experience developing systems software, middleware, runtime software, networking software, or communication libraries.
  • Hands-on experience diagnosing and optimizing performance, scalability, and reliability in complex distributed systems.
  • Experience in distributed systems, operating systems, concurrency, networking, and computer architecture.
  • Experience developing software in Linux environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with collective communication frameworks such as oneCCL, MPI, NCCL, RCCL, UCX, OpenSHMEM, or libfabric.
  • Experience supporting distributed AI training, machine learning infrastructure, or HPC applications.
  • Experience optimizing communication performance across multiple nodes, GPUs, or accelerators.
  • Familiarity with RDMA technologies and high-performance networking environments.
  • Experience developing software for GPU, accelerator, or heterogeneous computing platforms.
  • Open-source software development experience.
  • Customer-facing experience troubleshooting complex technical and performance-related challenges.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
