The posting

Company Description

At IKEA, we share one vision: to create a better everyday life for the many people. Across our different companies, functions and markets, we are united by our passion for home furnishing and our commitment to making well-designed, functional and sustainable products affordable for as many people as possible.

Are you passionate about product development, engineering and industrialization? Do you enjoy transforming customer needs into products that combine quality, sustainability and affordability? If so, this could be the opportunity for you.

We are now looking for a Product Engineer to join our Category Area Metal, Plastics & Float Glass (MPFG) team in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where you will work closely with suppliers and colleagues across the value chain to develop products that make a difference for the many people.

Job Description

As Product Engineer, you will lead the technical implementation of new products, product moves and improvements to the existing range. You will translate product requirements into robust product and production solutions, secure clear documentation, and work closely with suppliers and cross-functional IKEA partners to deliver quality, compliance, scalability and customer value.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead product development, industrialisation, product moves and product improvements from a Category perspective.
  • Secure that product and packaging solutions meet defined requirements, tolerances, quality expectations and applicable standards.
  • Lead product and production risk assessments, including FMEA, and ensure critical-to-quality requirements are reflected in the product documentation.
  • Plan, coordinate and communicate scope, progress, risks and changes with suppliers and relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Drive corrective actions and product adaptations in response to quality deviations, safety concerns or customer-related issues.
  • Assess suppliers' product-development capability, guide gap-closing actions and support continuous improvement in manufacturing efficiency, quality and waste reduction.
  • Build effective networks and collaborate across business teams, development partners and suppliers to enable scalable solutions.

Qualifications

  • You combine sound engineering judgement with a practical, hands-on approach. You can move confidently between product details and the wider business impact, and you create progress by involving the right people at the right time.
  • University degree in Engineering or a corresponding technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in product development and industrialization within a production environment.
  • Experience with relevant production technologies, materials, product construction, testing and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of Total Quality Management, continuous improvement and structured risk-assessment methods such as FMEA.
  • Project leadership experience, with the ability to manage scope, time, plans, stakeholders and change.
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions from a holistic customer, supplier and business perspective.
  • Ability to work effectively with and through others in a process-oriented, cross-functional and international environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Vietnamese.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
