Job Description

Hej QA Engineering Leader!

Inter IKEA Group connects IKEA franchisees with range development and suppliers and ensures alignment of the overall IKEA strategic direction. Every day, we strive to develop, produce, and sell products and services that are affordable and accessible to everyone.

This role is positioned in Retail Concept Operations, Software Engineering Competence hub. You will belong to the Quality Assurance team, reporting to the Technology Manager.

In Retail Concept Operations, as part of Retail Concept, we protect, develop, and enable the IKEA Concept across markets and franchisees. We turn the "what" of the IKEA Concept into the "how" of everyday retail operations, making it easy to use, scale, and trust across the value chain.

We take pride in working in progressive ways of working, with empowered teams and strong digital competence. We focus on simple, practical solutions that strengthen both short- and long-term low cost, while supporting consistency and quality in how the IKEA Concept comes to life.

Together, we build ways of working where teams take ownership, collaborate closely, and continuously improve, so we can create meaningful value for IKEA, our franchisees, co-workers, and the many people.

Assignment from Software engineering competence hub into capability areas is where we build, run and continuously improve the digital products and platforms that power the IKEA franchise offer. We bring together software engineering, platform engineering and quality engineering competence to create optimal preconditions for the business and people who design, develop and manage IKEA's offer across a connected and optimised value chain — all to deliver growth and enable low cost.

We are fully integrated into the development process, providing competence, tools, solutions, processes, and ways of working across many different areas. We work in cross-functional, agile teams that value ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement, and we're never done exploring better tools, technologies and practices to build a stronger digital foundation for IKEA's digital products and business.

Our team is based in Malmö, Sweden. We believe that your presence with the team and working the majority of the time in the workplace is important.

As a QA Engineering Leader, you’ll play an important part in the team and bring valuable IKEA knowledge into a new setting. In the coming years, we will continue to scale our digital products and platforms. Your primary focus will be championing quality assurance across the board, coach product management and engineering teams to build in quality from day one (shift left) and make automation and test discipline second nature and part of a team responsibility.

You will own QA strategy and planning, lead verification and validation activities, and act as a subject matter expert for quality assurance methods and tools across product and platform teams.

You'll work closely with engineering managers, product and platform leaders, and software engineers to embed quality thinking from design through delivery — championing automation, requirement clarity, and decoupled architectures that make quality assurance both scalable and sustainable. The impact of our work continues to resonate in homes and hearts around the world.

On a typical day, you will:

  • Develop QA test plans and strategies and define acceptance criteria for both built and purchased software solutions.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead QA activities effectively and that they delivered on time.
  • Coach and mentor members of digital product teams on QA frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Drive clarity, consistency, and quality in requirements across product and platform teams.
  • Champion test data creation, mocking (less E2E test), and test automation as the preferred testing approach, always balancing cost, value, and efficiency.
  • Provide coaching and constructive feedback to engineering and platform communities to strengthen quality practices and a quality-first mindset.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and product and platform leaders to ensure features are implemented with quality assurance built into the delivery process.
  • Support product and platform teams in working in a decoupled way to improve software quality and enable effective interface-level testing.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on specialist QA disciplines such as performance testing, penetration testing, and high-availability assurance when needed.
  • Support engineering managers in follow-ups, reviews, and quality discussions with consultancy partners.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
