About Invisix

Semiconductor manufacturers can't build what they can't measure. Invisix Measuring Systems is a fast-growing scale-up in the high-tech industry, developing next-generation metrology solutions for the semiconductor sector. Founded by former ASML professionals, we develop soft X-ray metrology that brings together advanced hardware, physics-based algorithms and software.

We're a small team, but the depth of knowledge inside Invisix is anything but small. Our culture is professional and fast-paced, with short communication lines and a strong sense of shared purpose. Everyone here is committed, and everyone knows their work directly contributes to something bigger.

The Role

We're looking for an HPC & Compute Infrastructure Engineer to own the compute infrastructure behind our metrology equipment and our development environment, from hardware specification and system build-up to performance and supplier management.

Our measurements are reconstructed from raw data using physics-based models and inverse-problem algorithms, which makes our software stack a demanding, GPU-heavy scientific computing workload. Our Algorithm Architect and Software Architect define what the stack needs in throughput and compute; you turn those needs into concrete hardware, build it up and keep it running.

The role is broad, covering both the compute that is part of our product and the infrastructure we run in-house. You'll be the technical lead towards our suppliers, while staying hands-on yourself.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the HPC and compute infrastructure for both our product and our in-house environment: set direction, make design decisions and keep it running

• Translate the compute and throughput needs defined with the Algorithm and Software Architects into hardware specifications, from processing and memory to storage and networking

• Act as technical lead towards suppliers: evaluate options, challenge proposals, and follow deliveries through to installation and acceptance

• Work with the algorithm and software teams to understand how the stack uses its compute, and find where performance can be gained on the hardware side

• Set up and maintain the tooling around the infrastructure, such as provisioning, monitoring and job scheduling

• [To confirm: ]Support the installation of product compute at customer sites, working within customer IT and security requirements

• Grow into adjacent responsibilities as the team scales, such as capacity planning and budget input

Is this you?

• A degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience), with at least 5 years of experience in HPC or compute infrastructure

• A track record of designing and building up HPC or compute infrastructure, taking it from specification to a running system

• Hands-on experience with Linux systems, GPU or accelerator hardware, high-speed networking and storage, and tools such as Slurm, Ansible or containers

• Active use of AI tooling in your daily work (scripting, automation, monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation) to boost efficiency

• A self-driven attitude and comfort with owning a broad area, with a startup mindset and the curiosity to dig into the software stack that runs on your hardware

Nice to have

• Experience running GPU-accelerated scientific or numerical workloads, such as simulation or model-based reconstruction

• Experience with low-latency interconnects such as InfiniBand or RDMA

• Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration

• A background in semiconductor equipment, or in compute integrated into industrial or high-tech systems

What We Offer

• A role at the heart of Invisix's compute infrastructure, with real technical ownership from day one

• Competitive salary and benefits, including an Employee Share Ownership Plan

• A learning and development budget to support your growth

• Flexible working arrangements, and room to grow into adjacent responsibilities as the team scales

Interested?

If this sounds like your kind of challenge, we'd like to hear from you, even if you only recognize yourself in part of this description. Submit your resume, and let's find out together if there's a match.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
