Job description

Job Type: Full-time | Location: Remote, US | Department: Innovation | Reporting to: Vice President, Next Generation Data Center Architecture | Work Location: #remote

IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider, delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC.

The Director, Facility and OT Security will own operational technology security, security compliance, supply chain assurance and physical security engineering for the IREN fleet: one standard every site is designed, built and operated to, an IEC 62443 architecture for the standard module, the facility evidence the corporate certification programs depend on, the provenance standard for procured equipment, and a small group of specialists to build. IREN's facilities are industrial control systems hosting other people's most valuable computation, and the corporate security function covers enterprise information technology only. The position sits in the Next Generation Data Center Architecture function with an indirect line to the Chief Information Officer so that its authority reaches the fleet.

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or a related field; a master's degree is preferred. Equivalent professional experience is considered.
  • Fifteen or more years in security engineering with at least eight in operational technology or industrial control system security for utilities, energy, pipelines, process industry or critical facilities, including leadership of a security program across multiple sites.
  • Leadership of an operational technology or facility security program across more than one site, where you set the standard, assessed sites against it and owned the findings with operations leaders who did not report to you.
  • Operational technology security architecture depth sufficient to direct an architect's IEC 62443 work and read a supplier's evidence critically.
  • Direct experience with at least one federal, defense or critical infrastructure security regime from the facility side, including the assessment.
  • Supply chain and provenance assurance for procured equipment under country-of-origin or restricted-source rules; management of security engineers; budget ownership for assessments and external specialists.
  • Preferred: ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Expert, CISSP, GICSP, Physical Security Professional; working knowledge of NIST SP 800-82, NERC CIP, NIST SP 800-171, FedRAMP and DoD impact levels, and the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act; NERC CIP program leadership.
  • Write and maintain the fleet operational technology and facility security standard and apply it to new sites through the design basis and to existing sites by assessment.
  • Own the IEC 62443 architecture of the standard module and its application to each site: zones, conduits, security level targets, component requirements and secure remote access.
  • Own the facility security compliance requirements and evidence package for the federal, defense and critical infrastructure regimes IREN's customers and jurisdictions impose.
  • Own the provenance and software bill of materials standard for the module's equipment and the exception process.
  • Own the physical security design basis for the standard module and the fleet.
  • Hold security criteria at the Architecture Review Gate and the security validation at Childress before each energized campaign.
  • Write the operations security logging, response and safe degradation requirements for Operations and the telemetry platform.
  • Hold the written boundary with corporate security and brief the Chief Information Officer monthly; hire, develop and lead the group.

  • Pre-employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
