Job description

Job Type: Full-Time l Location: Childress, TX l Department: Data Center Delivery l Reporting to: Project Director | Work Location Type: #onsite

IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider, delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC.

Reporting to the Project Director and taking day-to-day direction from a Senior Project Manager, the Project Manager provides the administrative backbone and on-site support for a data center building’s delivery. The role keeps project controls, documentation and reporting accurate and current, supports the Senior Project Managers’ trades and contracts in the field, and is the development path into Senior Project Manager.

This is a role for someone who wants to master the discipline of project management – schedule, cost, risk, change, documentation and reporting – and who wants to learn a trade in the field under experienced Senior Project Managers. It is where IREN grows its next generation of trade owners. This is a field role. The Project Manager is on site daily with the construction, procurement and engineering teams for the building they support, and spends as much time as possible alongside them.

With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.

  • 3 to 6 years in construction project engineering, project coordination or project controls.
  • Qualifications in an engineering discipline, construction management or related field, or demonstrable experience in data center or industrial construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Executive presence and reporting: demonstrated ability to document and communicate project risks, schedule and budget clearly and consistently, in written reports and in person, to project leadership.
  • Experience in a fast-paced growth environment; flexible approach to work hours and site-based work.
  • OSHA 30.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook).

Preferred qualifications – trades

  • Electrical: medium- and low-voltage distribution, switchgear, generators, UPS and battery systems.
  • Mechanical: chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, hydronic and process piping, liquid cooling, HVAC and plumbing.
  • Civil/structural: site development, grading and drainage, foundations, structural steel, concrete, pavements and site utilities.
  • Controls and commissioning: BMS/EPMS, SCADA and controls; commissioning documentation and participation in integrated systems testing.

Also highly regarded

  • Data center or mission-critical project exposure.
  • PM certification (CAPM, PMP or equivalent) highly regarded but not required.
  • Experience with project controls and document management tools such as Primavera P6, Procore or similar; SAP familiarity beneficial.
  • Trade background (e.g. apprenticeship, journeyman license or technical qualification) relevant to a trade above.

Other important requirements

  • A clear criminal record check is required.
  • Must provide own steel-toed work boots; all other PPE is supplied.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to the project site daily or have plans to relocate before starting work.
  • IREN operates across multiple countries and time zones; a flexible approach to work hours is required, with travel to other IREN sites as needed.

Project controls and reporting

  • Maintain schedule updates, budget tracking and cost-to-complete inputs for the building in coordination with project controls.
  • Maintain accurate and timely resource records (labor, timesheets, materials, subcontractors) and records of work completed.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly project reports to prescribed frequencies for Senior Project Manager and Project Director review, so that leadership receives one consistent, concise picture of risks, schedule and budget.
  • Present project status, risks and recommendations in project control meetings and to the Project Director with clarity and confidence.
  • Keep the building risk register current and track mitigation actions to closure.

Documentation and scope administration

  • Manage construction documentation storage and distribution so that contractor scope and obligations under each contract are clear to all project personnel.
  • Maintain the RFI database, submittal logs, meeting minutes and action-item registers; drive turnaround within agreed days.
  • Support design and constructability reviews through IFC by tracking review comments and close-out.

Contract and procurement administration

  • Prepare change-order packages with supporting documentation for Senior Project Manager approval.
  • Review contractor pay applications against work completed and schedule of values.
  • Support purchase-order and long-lead equipment tracking, including delivery dates against the schedule.

Quality and handover administration

  • Log non-conformances and defects, track rectification to closure and report status to the Senior Project Managers.
  • Assemble handover manuals, as-built and commissioning documentation and project records for Operations handover and archive in accordance with company guidelines.

Site support

  • Attend and support project control meetings; publish the project meetings schedule and follow up actions with contractors and suppliers.
  • Support inductions and training records for all personnel, including subcontractors, in line with company requirements.
  • Support a zero-harm culture and quality conformance on site; log safety observations and comply with IREN’s Risk, QA and HSE management systems.

Trade development

  • Work alongside one or more Senior Project Managers on their trades and contracts to build the technical and contractor-management skills required for the Senior Project Manager role.
  • Complete an agreed trade development plan covering field time, contractor exposure, design and submittal review, and commissioning participation.
  • Progressively coordinate that trade in the field under Senior Project Manager direction.

Decisions, escalation and communication

  • Make administrative and process decisions within the role’s authority.
  • Escalate trade, commercial and HSE issues to the Senior Project Manager or Project Director promptly and with a recommendation.
  • Communicate clearly in writing: reports, minutes and action items that others can act on without follow-up.
  • Work collaboratively with contractors, consultants, procurement and engineering, with a team-first, project-first mentality.

Continual improvement

  • Contribute to evaluations of project performance and to lessons-learned workshops at building close-out.
  • Identify and implement improvements to project controls, documentation and reporting practices.

Key competencies

  • Accountability and organization: strong sense of accountability, multitasking and time management across several contractors and workstreams at once.
  • Project controls fundamentals: schedule updates, cost tracking, reporting against planned and cost-to-complete, risk register upkeep.
  • Document and file management: reading drawings and specifications, RFI and submittal administration, knowledge of file management and administrative procedures.
  • Communication and teamwork: clear written reports and action items; works collaboratively with contractors, consultants, procurement and engineering.
  • Executive presence and reporting: documents and communicates risks, schedule and budget clearly, concisely and consistently; produces leadership-ready reports and presents status to Senior Project Managers and the Project Director with composure, credibility and a clear recommendation.
  • HSE and quality awareness: understands IREN’s Risk, QA and HSE systems; supports a zero-harm culture and quality conformance on site.
  • Tools: strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook); SAP familiarity beneficial.
  • Energy and growth mindset: manages pressure, responds constructively to feedback, and commits to improving work practices and systems.
  • Driving results: delivers on commitments, acts with discipline and in line with IREN’s values (Integrity, Challenge, Collaboration, Ingenuity).

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
