Job description

Job Type: Full-Time | Location: San Francisco | Department: Legal | Work Location Type: #Hybrid

IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider, delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC.

With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.

The Senior Legal Counsel, Technology Procurement will serve as the dedicated legal partner to IREN’s Vice President, AI Infrastructure Supply Chain and her growing team – owning the full spectrum of technology procurement and supply chain legal work to secure the GPUs, other compute hardware and critical infrastructure equipment that power IREN’s AI Cloud Services.

  • At least 12 years’ post-qualification experience at a leading law firm or equivalent in-house, with deep expertise in technology procurement, supply chain or strategic sourcing, ideally in the data centre, semiconductor, cloud infrastructure or capital equipment sectors.
  • Admitted to practise and in good standing in at least one US state; familiarity with export controls, sanctions and tariffs affecting global hardware supply chains an advantage.
  • You like to solve real problems and move fast with intention, work independently while collaborating globally with business teams, vendors and advisors, and have strong commerciality, judgement and stakeholder management skills.
  • Superior time management and multitasking skills with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Technology procurement contracts. Structure, draft and negotiate GPU and compute hardware purchase and supply agreements, master purchase agreements, equipment supply contracts (e.g. networking infrastructure), software licensing, cloud and SaaS agreements, and logistics and freight contracts, from initial structuring through negotiation execution and ongoing contract management.
  • Risk allocation. Advise on supply chain risk allocation, including warranties, delivery and delay regimes, liquidated damages, limitation of liability, indemnities, IP ownership and licensing, payment security and termination rights.
  • Trade compliance. Counsel the business on export controls, sanctions, tariffs and import/customs matters affecting global hardware supply chains, engaging specialist outside counsel where needed.
  • Templates, playbooks and guidance. Prepare and maintain templates, playbooks and guidance notes on technology procurement, enabling the business to contract consistently, at pace and at scale.
  • Disputes and escalations. Manage vendor disputes, claims and escalations.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
