Job description
Job Type: Full-Time l Location: San Francisco CA l Department: AI Infrastructure Supply Chain l Reporting to: Senior Manager, PLM | Work Location Type: #Hybrid IREN is a leading AI Cloud Service Provider, delivering large-scale GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s vertically integrated platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and data centers in renewable-rich regions across the U.S. and Canada. The Senior PLM Coordinator establishes and maintains the part and Bill of Materials (BOM) structures that define IREN's AI infrastructure hardware, from New Product Introduction (NPI) through End of Life (EOL). Reporting to the Senior Manager, PLM, this senior individual contributor works within IREN's PLM system to create Part Master/Item Master Data and BOM structures for large-scale AI compute clusters according to IREN's pre-defined methods and specifications. The role owns the integrity of purchased parts, systems, racks, service parts, and related structures over the life of IREN's products and data centers, keeping them accurate as Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and Product Change Notifications (PCNs) evolve their definition. Partnering with Sourcing, Engineering, Operations, and third-party OEM, ODM, and supplier partners, the Senior PLM Coordinator turns each team's needs into well-structured product data that enables sourcing, build, deployment, and service at scale. With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way - responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5-7+ years of experience in product lifecycle management, engineering data management, or configuration management for complex electromechanical hardware, ideally at a hyperscaler, cloud provider, server or rack OEM, or AI infrastructure company.
- Proven experience creating and maintaining part records and multi-level BOM structures in PLM systems such as Arena, Oracle, SAP, or similar, according to established methods and specifications; experience with PLM-to-ERP integration preferred.
- Clear understanding of complex BOM structures (EBOM, MBOM, and service BOMs), including Field Replaceable Unit (FRU) and Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) definitions and structures, item and revision control, effectivity, and where-used relationships.
- Hands-on experience processing ECOs, ECNs, and PCNs, including redlining BOMs, assessing impact, and updating affected parts and structures through release.
- Working expertise establishing and maintaining the Part Master/Item Master, including part definition and specifications, manufacturer and supplier part numbers, compliance attributes (e.g., RoHS, REACH, and export classification), unit of measure, and lifecycle status.
- Experience with data center hardware such as GPU and CPU servers, networking, optics, power, and liquid cooling, including working with OEM, ODM, and supplier partners to obtain and structure part data; configuration management certification (e.g., CMII) preferred.
- Advanced Excel or equivalent data tool skills for bulk data loads, BOM comparisons, and data validation.
- Strong hands-on problem solving, data analysis, and communication skills, with the ability to operate autonomously across Sourcing, Engineering, Operations, and third-party partners.
- Own the creation and maintenance of Part Master/Item Master Data and BOM structures in IREN's PLM system for AI compute clusters, including purchased parts, systems, racks, service parts, and related assemblies.
- Build part records and multi-level BOMs according to IREN's pre-defined part numbering, classification, attribute, and structure specifications.
- Translate the needs of Sourcing, Operations, Engineering, and other teams into BOM structures that support how each team sources, builds, deploys, and services IREN's hardware.
- Partner with Engineering and third-party OEM, ODM, and supplier partners during New Product Introduction to gather, validate, and load part and BOM data ahead of sourcing and build.
- Execute ECO and ECN activity in the PLM system, redlining BOMs, updating affected parts and where-used structures, and driving changes through review and release.
- Monitor and process supplier PCNs and end-of-life notices, assessing impact on parts and BOMs and coordinating alternates and dispositions with Sourcing and Engineering.
- Ensure SLAs for part and BOM requests are met, and that critical ECO, ECN, and PCN timeframes are accommodated so sourcing, build, and deployment schedules stay on track.
- Manage part and structure lifecycle states from introduction through sustaining and End of Life, ensuring effectivity and revision control reflect the configurations deployed across IREN's data centers.
- Establish and maintain service BOMs and FRU/CRU structures that support field service and data center operations.
- Validate data quality through regular audits of part attributes, BOM accuracy, and PLM-to-ERP alignment, and resolve discrepancies at the source.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for part and BOM questions, providing guidance and training to PLM users and mentoring other PLM Coordinators.
- Identify gaps in PLM standards, templates, and workflows, and recommend improvements to the Senior Manager, PLM as IREN's hardware portfolio scales.
Other important requirements
- Pre-employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies.
- Must be able to reliably commute to the assigned office location on scheduled in-office days under the hybrid work arrangement.
- This role requires minimal to no travel, other than periodic group meetings.
- Where IREN has not yet secured a local office, this role will initially work remotely, transitioning to hybrid on-site work once the local office is established.
