Position Overview:

The Import Supervisor oversees the importation process, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and coordinating the efficient and timely clearance of goods. This role involves managing a team, liaising with customs authorities and clients, and optimizing import operations to align with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Import Process Management:

  1. Oversee the end-to-end import clearance process.
  2. Ensure accurate documentation, including invoices, packing list, bills of lading, and import permits.
  3. Monitor shipments to ensure timely clearance and delivery.

Regulatory Compliance:

  1. Ensure all import activities comply with Tanzanian customs regulations and international trade laws.
  2. Resolve discrepancies and disputes with customs authorities promptly.

Coordination and Communication:

  1. Act as the primary contact for clients on import-related matters.
  2. Liaise with shipping agents, transporters, and customs officials to expedite clearance.

Team Supervision:

  1. Lead and manage the import team to ensure productivity and adherence to company policies.
  2. Train team members on import procedures and regulatory requirements.

Documentation and Reporting:

  1. Maintain accurate records of import transactions and files for audits.
  2. Prepare and submit regular reports on import operations to management.
  3. Prepare good records and arrange the files properly under the company’s rules

Cost Management:

  1. Monitor and control costs associated with importation, such as duties, taxes, and handling charges.
  2. Identify opportunities to reduce expenses and enhance cost efficiency.

Client Relationship Management:

  1. Ensure excellent service delivery to clients by addressing inquiries and resolving import-related issues.
  2. Build and maintain strong client relationships to foster loyalty and business growth.

Problem-Solving:

  1. Address and resolve challenges or delays in the import process promptly.
  2. Develop contingency plans for unforeseen import-related issues.

Report and feedback on time

  1. Report to the operation manager and GM or MD on time and with good feedback;
  2. Perform the work assigned by the management on time and with good results.
