Buyer / Procurement Specialist

Johnson Controls is a leading global company in technology solutions for smart and sustainable buildings. With more than 94,000 employees in more than 150 countries, we design and implement advanced HVAC systems, security, automation and energy efficiency.

Our teams work on high-impact projects for clients in sectors such as construction, industrial, retail, healthcare and transportation, using innovative technologies. Being part of Johnson Controls means contributing to a more efficient, secure and connected future.

What will be your role?

As a Senior Buyer, you will play a key role in driving procurement excellence across complex technical projects within the Fire, Security and Building Management Systems (BMS) business. Acting as a strategic partner to Operations, Engineering and Project Management teams, you will be responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier and subcontractor relationships, optimizing commercial performance, and ensuring the successful delivery of critical projects.

This is an opportunity to combine strong commercial expertise with technical understanding in a fast-paced, project-driven environment where your contribution will have a direct impact on business success.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Manage end-to-end procurement and sourcing activities for technical projects.
  • Identify, evaluate, select, and negotiate with subcontractors, installers, technical service providers, and material/equipment suppliers.
  • Manage RFQs, commercial evaluations, supplier comparisons, and negotiation processes.
  • Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, payment conditions, and subcontracting agreements.
  • Source technical materials, components, and systems required for Fire & Security and Building Management Systems (BMS) projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong market knowledge by proactively identifying new suppliers and subcontractors and creating competitive sourcing alternatives.
  • Analyze technical scopes of work, specifications, and project requirements to develop effective sourcing strategies.
  • Assess and challenge supplier and subcontractor proposals from both a commercial and technical perspective.
  • Work closely with Project Management, Engineering, Operations, and other key business stakeholders.
  • Support projects throughout execution and help resolve commercial or supplier-related issues when required.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial, contractual, supplier-capacity, and supply-chain risks.
  • Contribute to supplier performance management and the continuous development of the supplier and subcontractor base.

What are we looking for?

  • Relevant Procurement experience, preferably at Senior Buyer level.
  • Strong experience in project procurement and subcontractor management.
  • Experience working in technical, engineering, installation, or project-based environments.
  • Good knowledge of supplier and subcontractor markets, including the ability to identify, benchmark, and develop alternative sourcing options.
  • Experience and/or strong affinity with sourcing technical materials, equipment, and components.
  • Strong commercial awareness and excellent negotiation skills.
  • Ability to understand technical specifications, scopes of work, and supplier proposals.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with Project Management, Engineering, and Operations teams.
  • Ability to work autonomously, take ownership, and manage multiple priorities while maintaining a strong team-oriented approach.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
