1. Организует и осуществляет федеральный государственный лесной надзор (лесную охрану) в районе нахождения лесничества; 2. Организует и осуществляет федеральный государственный пожарный надзор в лесах в районе нахождения лесничества; 3. Готовит материалы для государственного лесного реестра по закрепленной территории, осуществляет предоставление выписок из государственного лесного реестра. 4. Осуществляет контроль за лесоустроительными работами в период проведения и их приемку от лесоустроительных партий. 5. Осуществляет мониторинг пожарной опасности в лесах, организует разработку планов тушения лесных пожаров и организует выполнение мероприятий по охране лесов от пожаров, а также защите их от вредителей и болезней леса, организует и осуществляет патрулирование лесов в целях обнаружения лесных пожаров и выявления нарушителей правил пожарной безопасности, в целях выявления незаконных рубок, незаконного использования лесов и других лесонарушений, выявления лиц, виновных в нарушении лесного законодательства, а также в целях выявления и предотвращения нарушений правил санитарной безопасности в лесах, в том числе обнаружения несанкционированных свалок, организует дежурство в целях приема донесений о лесных пожарах, организует передачу сведений о лесных пожарах в единый пункт диспетчерского управления охраной лесов от пожаров, контролирует выполнение и организует приемку работ по противопожарному обустройству лесов и тушению лесных пожаров с оформлением соответствующих документов; 6. Обеспечивает принятие мер, направленных на устранение нарушений лесного законодательства и привлечение лиц, виновных в нарушениях лесного законодательства, к установленной законом ответственности;

Заместитель начальника должен иметь высшее профессиональное (лесохозяйственное) образование стаж работы на руководящих должностях не менее 3-х лет или среднее профессиональное (лесохозяйственное) образование и стаж работы в организации лесного хозяйства не менее 5-и лет. Умение находить компромиссы и приходить к консенсусу при решении конфликтных ситуаций. Высокая профессиональность, знание своего дела и уверенность в своих знаниях. Способность быть тактичным и стрессовоустойчивость. Добросовестность и честность в отношениях со всеми сотрудниками.
