Организация работы отделения. Заведующий планирует деятельность: ставит цели, распределяет задачи между специалистами (врачами-гериатрами, реабилитологами, социальными работниками, инструкторами ЛФК), координирует их работу. Он несёт ответственность за то, чтобы отделение выполняло возложенные задачи. Руководство персоналом. Он подбирает кадры для отделения, организует их обучение и повышение квалификации. В его полномочиях вносить предложения о назначении на должность и освобождении от неё (по согласованию с директором центра), а также готовить представления о дисциплинарных взысканиях. Контроль качества и эффективности. Заведующий отслеживает, как реализуются индивидуальные программы реабилитации (ИПРА/ИПР): анализирует динамику состояния ПСУ, оценивает, достигнуты ли цели, при необходимости корректирует план. Он также контролирует, как сотрудники выполняют приказы, распоряжения и внутренние регламенты. Методическая и организационная поддержка. Он помогает коллегам разрабатывать реабилитационные маршруты, внедряет современные методики и технологии, участвует в разработке локальных нормативных актов отделения. Работа с ПСУ. Заведующий участвует в комплексной оценке: анализирует физическое состояние, функциональный статус, психическое здоровье, социально-экономические условия жизни пациента. На этой основе он формирует долгосрочный индивидуальный план мероприятий не только медицинский, но и социальный, психологический. Также он может организовывать школы для пациентов и для лиц, которые за ними ухаживают. Взаимодействие. В рамках своей компетенции заведующий взаимодействует с другими подразделениями центра, другими медицинскими организациями, страховыми компаниями, территориальными органами власти и социальными службами. Обеспечение условий труда. Он следит за тем, чтобы в отделении были созданы безопасные условия работы, соблюдались санитарно-эпидемиологический и противопожарный режимы, а также требования антитеррористической защищённости. Учёт и отчётность. Заведующий организует учёт работы отделения и своевременное предоставление отчётности. Решение нестандартных ситуаций. При поступлении жалоб от ПСУ или их родственников он разбирается в ситуации, запрашивает объяснения у виновных сотрудников и вносит предложения по устранению выявленных недостатков.

Реабилитация и абилитация инвалидов, ведение сопутствующей документации и др.
