This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Accounting Manager based in India.
This is a high-impact opportunity to lead key accounting activities within a fast-growing, technology-driven financial services environment. You will play a central role in the monthly close process and help ensure accurate, timely financial reporting under U.S. GAAP. The role combines hands-on accounting ownership with process improvement, analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll work closely with business leaders, auditors, and finance stakeholders on complex accounting matters. You will also help establish accounting processes for new products and initiatives while identifying opportunities to make existing processes more efficient. As a people leader, you’ll mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Accountabilities
- Own key areas of the month-end close process, including selected expenses, revenue, payroll, and P&L activities, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Prepare and review general ledger journal entries and maintain high-quality supporting schedules and documentation.
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving aged or unreconciled items.
- Investigate current and historical accounting issues across different transaction types and develop appropriate resolutions.
- Establish and implement accounting processes for new products, business initiatives, and evolving financial activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and workflows, and drive improvements through implementation.
- Partner with external auditors to support timely reviews, audits, and requests for financial information.
- Collaborate with business leaders and internal stakeholders to provide ad hoc analysis and resolve complex accounting questions.
- Educate colleagues on accounting practices, financial implications, and relevant policies.
- Mentor and support junior accounting professionals, serving as a resource for technical questions and professional development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 5–7 years of professional accounting experience, gained in an accounting firm or in-house corporate environment.
- At least 1 year of people-management or team-leadership experience.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience applying accounting principles to complex business activities.
- Advanced Excel skills, including experience working with large datasets and functions such as SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH, and VLOOKUP.
- Experience with NetSuite is a plus; familiarity with SQL is also advantageous.
- Experience working in a publicly traded company is preferred.
- Experience in financial technology, mortgage banking, lending, or another financial services environment is a strong advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and develop practical solutions.
- A proactive mindset and a strong interest in challenging existing processes and continuously improving how accounting work is performed.
- Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Adaptability and comfort working in a dynamic business environment with frequent changes and evolving priorities.
