This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Contract Content Lawyer (Corporate and Private M&A) based in Canada.
This role offers an opportunity for an experienced lawyer to apply deep corporate and transactional expertise in a content-focused legal career. You will create and maintain practical, high-quality legal resources designed to support Canadian legal professionals in their day-to-day work. The position combines legal subject-matter expertise with research, writing, editing, and legal innovation. You will collaborate with experienced professionals and practitioners while helping shape the direction and quality of a digital legal resource. The role provides meaningful exposure to content strategy, product development, practitioner engagement, and emerging AI-powered legal workflows. You will have the opportunity to influence how complex legal concepts are translated into practical guidance that professionals can use with confidence. This is a flexible, home-based position suited to a highly organized lawyer who enjoys writing, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Accountabilities:
- Write, review, and edit a broad range of practical legal resources, including practice notes, checklists, flowcharts, precedents, and other materials supporting corporate and private M&A practice.
- Maintain the accuracy, currency, relevance, and practical value of all legal content, ensuring resources reflect current law, market practices, and professional needs.
- Monitor legal developments, industry trends, and emerging issues within corporate, securities, and M&A practice to identify opportunities for new or updated content.
- Evaluate the competitiveness and effectiveness of the content offering and provide recommendations that strengthen its relevance and overall direction.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with legal practitioners and law firms across Canada, including recruiting contributors and managing ongoing professional relationships.
- Contribute to broader content strategy by identifying priorities, recommending improvements, and helping shape the development of practical legal resources.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute content and product development initiatives, ensuring high-quality deliverables are completed within established timelines.
- Support commercial and marketing initiatives through product demonstrations, training sessions, presentations, and other activities that communicate the value of the legal content.
- J.D. or LL.B. degree and active membership in good standing with the bar of at least one Canadian province or territory.
- 3+ years of professional legal experience in Capital Markets, Securities, Public M&A, or closely related corporate transactional practice.
- Deep practical knowledge of Capital Markets, Securities, and Public M&A law, including a strong understanding of relevant workflows and legal processes.
- Established professional relationships and a strong network among Capital Markets, Securities, and/or Public M&A lawyers across Canada.
- Excellent legal writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly, concisely, accurately, and practically.
- Experience drafting or editing client-facing materials, legal publications, law journal content, CLE presentations, practice resources, or other professional legal content.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with confidence engaging legal professionals and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and the ability to work effectively with digital content and productivity tools.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities independently while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Experience using AI and large language model tools in a professional workflow, including the ability to validate outputs, identify limitations, and improve AI-generated content.
- Fluency in French is considered an asset.
- Competitive base salary of $90,300–$140,300 CAD, depending on qualifications and other relevant factors.
