This is a strategic account leadership role focused on growing and protecting complex corporate customer relationships across the pulp and paper industry. You will develop and execute account strategies that drive sustainable revenue growth, improve profitability, and strengthen long-term customer partnerships. The role combines executive relationship management, consultative selling, commercial strategy, and cross-functional leadership. You will work closely with sales, technical, marketing, operations, supply chain, and product teams to align customer needs with business objectives. A key focus will be identifying growth opportunities across multiple customer locations while protecting existing revenue and reducing account risk. You will also use financial analysis, market intelligence, and forecasting to guide strategic decisions. This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced account leader who thrives in complex, multi-site environments and enjoys building trusted executive relationships.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and execute annual strategic account plans aligned with customer priorities and organizational growth objectives.
- Identify and pursue new opportunities across multiple customer locations, expanding share of wallet through new products, technologies, and services.
- Lead commercial growth initiatives, customer business reviews, and strategic planning discussions.
- Protect existing revenue by maintaining strong relationships with key decision-makers, identifying risks and competitive threats, and developing proactive retention strategies.
- Build trusted relationships with senior executives and serve as a primary strategic point of contact for assigned corporate accounts.
- Facilitate executive business reviews and long-term planning sessions focused on customer priorities, performance, opportunities, and strategic objectives.
- Use value-based selling to demonstrate measurable customer value while improving account profitability and margin contribution.
- Lead contract negotiations, commercial discussions, pricing initiatives, and value-realization strategies.
- Analyze account financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability and commercial outcomes.
- Coordinate cross-functional activities across sales, technical service, marketing, supply chain, operations, product management, and other internal teams.
- Lead account-specific projects and strategic initiatives while ensuring accountability for customer commitments and deliverables.
- Develop a detailed understanding of customer goals, operational challenges, productivity priorities, sustainability objectives, and business plans.
- Conduct regular account reviews and customer feedback discussions to strengthen satisfaction, retention, and long-term partnership value.
- Document critical customer relationships, account strategies, business opportunities, and institutional knowledge to support continuity and effective succession.
- Maintain accurate account forecasts, opportunity pipelines, and strategic business information.
- Provide leadership with market intelligence, competitive insights, account risk assessments, and customer investment trends.
- Support annual planning and budgeting activities through accurate data, analysis, and strategic recommendations.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen market position within strategic accounts by promoting differentiated solutions and supporting long-term growth initiatives across North America.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Pulp & Paper Science, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- 7–10 years of experience in sales, account management, technical service, or a related commercial role within the pulp and paper industry.
- Proven experience managing large strategic accounts and complex, multi-site customer relationships.
- Strong commercial acumen, including value-based selling, contract negotiation, profitability management, and growth strategy development.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with executive-level stakeholders and influence key decision-makers.
- Experience developing and executing strategic account plans focused on revenue growth, retention, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
- Strong project management and cross-functional leadership capabilities.
- Experience with financial analysis, sales forecasting, account profitability, and business planning.
- Ability to identify customer risks, competitive threats, growth opportunities, and strategic priorities.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across technical, commercial, operational, and corporate functions.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate customer and market data into actionable business decisions.
- Self-driven, motivated, commercially focused, and comfortable taking ownership of complex customer relationships.
- Fluent in both English and French.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Canada, with travel expected to reach approximately 40%.
- Ability to manage multiple strategic priorities while maintaining a high level of customer engagement and responsiveness.
