The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director - Product Management based in the United States.

This is a senior product leadership opportunity focused on shaping differentiated solutions for defense and intelligence markets. You will define product strategy across Earth observation data, geospatial analytics, AI/ML, contextual data, and mission workflows. The role is highly customer-facing, requiring close engagement with government users, acquisition stakeholders, commercial customers, technical teams, and industry partners. You will translate complex mission needs into scalable products, clear roadmaps, strong requirements, and compelling commercial offerings. A major focus will be identifying reusable capabilities, making evidence-based investment decisions, and balancing customer value, market opportunity, revenue potential, and technical feasibility. You will operate at the intersection of Product, Engineering, Federal, Growth, Sales, Analytics, and Partnerships, driving alignment without creating unnecessary process. For an experienced product leader with deep U.S. Government defense and intelligence expertise, this role offers substantial influence over strategy, commercialization, and mission-focused technology adoption.

Accountabilities

  • Define and continuously refine product strategy, roadmaps, investment priorities, and product direction for defense and intelligence offerings.
  • Lead continuous market and customer discovery with U.S. Government users, mission owners, buyers, program offices, acquisition stakeholders, partners, and industry influencers.
  • Translate mission problems, customer feedback, and operational workflows into clear product requirements, desired outcomes, priorities, and measurable success criteria.
  • Identify common customer and mission requirements and turn them into scalable products, reusable capabilities, and configurable workflows.
  • Distinguish between strategic product investments, reusable customer-driven capabilities, and one-off custom development opportunities.
  • Make evidence-based recommendations on what to build, improve, package, partner for, or deprioritize based on customer value, market size, differentiation, revenue potential, strategic fit, and technical feasibility.
  • Convert recurring mission and customer needs into differentiated offerings that can be repeatedly commercialized and delivered.
  • Partner with Federal, Growth, and Business Development teams to understand funded demand, shape opportunities, support capture activities, and create product proof points that enable revenue growth.
  • Develop and evolve pricing, packaging, licensing, and value propositions based on customer willingness to pay, acquisition pathways, budget structures, competitive dynamics, and product economics.
  • Drive the product substance behind customer-facing materials, product briefs, demonstrations, presentations, proposals, use cases, and sales enablement content.
  • Establish disciplined customer validation processes to assess problems, value propositions, workflow fit, usability, adoption potential, and willingness to pay before and after major investments.
  • Build a strong operating relationship with Engineering by providing customer context, priorities, requirements, and desired outcomes while allowing technical teams to own architecture and delivery execution.
  • Work closely with Sales and Market leadership to ensure customer and capture needs inform product decisions without allowing individual opportunities to dictate long-term product strategy.
  • Monitor competitors and substitutes across commercial Earth observation, GEOINT, analytics, AI/ML, workflow, and data-fusion markets and translate market developments into product strategy.
  • Communicate product strategy, customer evidence, investment decisions, risks, and performance to senior leadership.
  • Drive alignment across Product, Engineering, Analytics, Growth, Programs, Partnerships, and Federal leadership.
  • Define and monitor outcome-oriented product metrics including customer validation, adoption, usage, time-to-value, product reuse, pipeline influence, revenue contribution, and lifecycle performance.
  • Operate with urgency and responsiveness, proactively identifying customer, market, product, and execution issues before they become escalations.
  • Maintain accountability through the full product lifecycle, from discovery and requirements through validation, commercialization, and customer adoption.
  • 10+ years of product management, product strategy, or closely related product leadership experience, including meaningful experience at Senior Product Manager, Group Product Manager, Principal, Director, or comparable level.
  • Demonstrated experience taking data-intensive, analytics, geospatial, ISR, AI/ML, or workflow products from discovery through commercialization and adoption.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Government defense and intelligence mission environments, including user and operator workflows and government buying behavior.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must hold a minimum active Secret clearance; active TS/SCI is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. Government mission needs, budgets, spending cycles, acquisition pathways, and adoption of commercial GEOINT and Earth observation capabilities.
  • Experience working directly with customers and users to conduct discovery, validate problems, test concepts, and translate insights into product decisions.
  • Strong commercial judgment, including experience with pricing, packaging, market segmentation, product positioning, and revenue-oriented product strategy.
  • Ability to translate complex technical, geospatial, and mission concepts into concise product requirements and executive-level recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop customer-facing product materials and represent products in external meetings.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to lead across matrixed organizations without relying on direct authority.
  • Ability to balance customer needs, market signals, economics, mission impact, strategic priorities, and technical feasibility when making product decisions.
  • Comfortable operating in an environment where Product owns market solutions, product strategy, priorities, requirements, and outcomes while Market teams lead capture and revenue execution and Engineering owns technical delivery.
  • Highly responsive, proactive, evidence-driven, and comfortable making decisions with incomplete information.
  • Preferred experience with GEOINT, remote sensing, commercial electro-optical imagery, spectral data, SAR, or multi-source geospatial analytics.
  • Preferred experience working with U.S. intelligence community agencies, COCOMs, Military Services, NRO, NGA, or other civil, defense, or intelligence organizations.
  • Experience with international defense markets such as Canada, Europe, or Australia is a plus.
  • Knowledge of federal acquisition, appropriations, PPBE and budget cycles, OTAs, CSOs, IDIQs, data purchases, software licensing, and other commercial technology adoption pathways is highly desirable.
  • Experience with product-led capture, market shaping, customer advocacy, or emerging commercial technology adoption is a plus.
  • Prior military, intelligence community, or federal service experience with direct exposure to analyst, operator, or mission workflows is advantageous.
  • Washington Metropolitan Area location is preferred.
  • Full-time remote position within the United States.
  • Washington Metropolitan Area location preferred.
  • Senior product leadership role with significant ownership of defense and intelligence product strategy.
  • Opportunity to shape products combining Earth observation, geospatial analytics, AI/ML, contextual data, and mission workflows.
  • Direct engagement with U.S. Government users, acquisition stakeholders, senior leaders, industry partners, and commercial customers.
  • High visibility across Product, Engineering, Federal, Growth, Analytics, Sales, Programs, and Partnerships.
  • Opportunity to influence pricing, packaging, commercialization, product investment, and revenue strategy.
  • Significant autonomy and influence within a fast-moving, evidence-driven product organization.
  • Opportunity to develop scalable technology solutions addressing complex defense and intelligence missions.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
