This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Product & Pipeline Communications - Hematology based in United States.
This senior communications leadership role will shape the global communications strategy for a broad Hematology portfolio spanning pipeline assets, launches, commercialized products, and lifecycle opportunities. You will translate complex scientific and clinical developments into clear, compelling narratives for diverse global audiences. The role combines strategic communications leadership with hands-on execution across product, scientific, executive, and corporate communications. You will advise senior medical and business leaders while helping strengthen scientific credibility, corporate reputation, and stakeholder trust. Close collaboration with Commercial, Medical Affairs, R&D, Regulatory, Legal, Patient Advocacy, Media Relations, and regional teams will be central to success. The position also leads communications around major medical congresses, clinical milestones, executive visibility, and potential reputation issues. This is a remote U.S.-based opportunity with approximately 15% domestic and international travel.
Accountabilities
- Develop and lead a measurable global communications strategy for the Hematology franchise, incorporating pipeline assets, launch priorities, commercialized products, lifecycle opportunities, regional priorities, market conditions, and stakeholder insights.
- Establish an integrated franchise narrative and message architecture that creates consistency across products and lifecycle stages while allowing appropriate regional adaptation.
- Build and execute annual communications plans covering audiences, objectives, strategies, initiatives, budgets, and performance measures.
- Identify opportunities to communicate scientific expertise, innovation, medical advances, and patient impact beyond major data releases, regulatory decisions, and product announcements.
- Lead communications planning and execution across the product lifecycle, including clinical data readouts, publications, regulatory milestones, launches, indication expansions, and lifecycle activities.
- Translate complex scientific concepts, mechanisms of action, and clinical data into accurate, accessible, compelling, and compliant communications.
- Develop branded and unbranded disease education and multichannel storytelling programs designed to increase understanding of blood cancers and their potential impact on patients.
- Lead communications strategy for priority medical congresses and scientific meetings, including media engagement, executive visibility, digital content, press materials, and internal communications.
- Serve as a strategic communications counselor to the Chief Medical Officer for Hematology and other senior scientific and medical leaders, developing thought-leadership and executive visibility strategies.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities including media engagements, speaking platforms, scientific forums, bylines, social content, awards, and other external visibility channels.
- Prepare executives and scientific leaders for high-profile engagements through briefings, talking points, messaging, and strategic counsel.
- Monitor scientific, competitive, regulatory, and stakeholder developments to identify communications opportunities and potential reputation risks.
- Support issues preparedness, escalation, response planning, and crisis communications in partnership with media relations and relevant corporate teams.
- Establish and track communications metrics covering message adoption, stakeholder engagement, executive visibility, media quality, and reputation outcomes.
- Manage communications budgets, agencies, scopes, deliverables, and spending while ensuring materials and activities meet applicable medical, legal, regulatory, privacy, and compliance requirements.
- Provide strategic leadership while remaining hands-on in execution and supporting broader team priorities when enterprise needs require.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 10+ years of healthcare communications experience across in-house teams, healthcare communications agencies, or a combination of both.
- Strong experience in hematology and/or oncology communications is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing global or multi-regional product, pipeline, scientific, or franchise communications strategies.
- Experience with pharmaceutical product and pipeline communications, including at least one global launch, major approval, or significant clinical milestone.
- Ability to quickly understand complex scientific and clinical information and transform it into clear, accurate, compelling, and compliant narratives.
- Strong working knowledge of global medical, legal, and regulatory review requirements, including relevant FDA, EMA, and other health authority communications considerations.
- Experience managing communications budgets, agency relationships, and complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent writing, editing, presentation, and executive-counseling capabilities.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to connect franchise communications with broader brand, reputation, and enterprise objectives.
- Enterprise mindset with the ability to consider portfolio-wide and organizational implications rather than focusing solely on individual products.
- Strong global-local leadership skills, including the ability to establish global direction while incorporating regional priorities, cultural context, and market insights.
- Strong scientific literacy and the ability to communicate technical information accurately and appropriately for different audiences.

- Salary: Base salary range of $169,000–$229,000 annually, with actual compensation determined by factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and work location.
- Incentive compensation: Eligibility for an annual bonus plan for non-commercial roles or an incentive compensation plan for commercial roles, as applicable.
