This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Engenheiro de Dados Sênior GCP/DBT based in Brazil.

This is a senior-level opportunity to design, build, and evolve cloud-based data pipelines and models using GCP and dbt. You will join a data-focused squad within a large financial institution, contributing to the modernization and reliability of critical data environments. The role combines hands-on engineering with architectural thinking, performance optimization, data quality, security, and governance. You will collaborate closely with Data Science, BI, Data Engineering, and business teams to solve complex data challenges. As part of a data community of practice, you will also share technical knowledge, establish standards, and contribute to the organization’s data maturity. The position offers significant autonomy in diagnosing problems, designing solutions, and documenting scalable approaches.

Accountabilities:

  • Analyze data warehouse architectures and requirements, mapping data, transformations, and processes across GCP services such as Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and Dataproc.
  • Define data migration strategies, including full loads, incremental processing, and CDC, as well as architecture plans for GCP-based data environments.
  • Design and optimize BigQuery data models, including schemas, partitioning, clustering, streaming and batch ingestion, with a focus on performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Structure data zones in Cloud Storage using Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers, and develop ELT/ETL pipelines with Dataproc, Spark, Dataflow, and dbt.
  • Translate business logic and existing transformations into cloud-based data solutions while implementing data validation and quality mechanisms.
  • Provision and manage GCP infrastructure using Terraform, including BigQuery datasets and tables, Cloud Storage buckets, and Dataproc clusters, while managing networking, IAM, security, and access controls.
  • Monitor and optimize BigQuery queries, Spark jobs, and GCP resource consumption to improve performance and control cloud costs.
  • Implement data security and governance practices covering data at rest and in transit, granular IAM policies, and compliance with established governance standards.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline and GCP performance or functionality issues, document architectures, data models, pipelines, and operational procedures, and communicate technical decisions clearly to teams and stakeholders.
  • Participate in Agile methodologies, ceremonies, and workflows, with proficiency in Jira, while contributing to a data chapter/community of practice and supporting the adoption of technical best practices.
  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience with GCP and 3 years of proven experience with dbt.
  • Strong expertise in BigQuery, including data modeling, query optimization, partitioning, clustering, streaming and batch data loading, security, and governance.
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud Storage, including bucket management, storage classes, lifecycle policies, IAM, and data security.
  • Experience provisioning, configuring, managing, and optimizing Dataproc Spark/Hadoop clusters, including integration with other GCP services.
  • Knowledge of Dataflow, Composer, and dbt for data processing and ELT/ETL orchestration.
  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience with PySpark, with strong knowledge of Python for automation, pipeline development, and GCP API integrations.
  • Advanced SQL skills for BigQuery, dbt, and complex data transformations.
  • Knowledge of Shell scripting for task automation.
  • Proven experience with GitFlow and version control tools such as Git, GitHub, or Bitbucket.
  • Knowledge of Cloud IAM, including granular security policies and access management.
  • Understanding of VPC, networking, subnets, firewall rules, and cloud security best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the autonomy to diagnose complex technical issues and propose scalable solutions.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineering teams, business stakeholders, and other technical areas.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, ceremonies, and Jira.
  • Availability to work remotely in Brazil.
  • The project is expected to run from October through December 2026.
