The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Engineering Manager, QA based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a distributed QA engineering team responsible for the reliability of desktop applications and browser extensions. You will shape the QA strategy and roadmap while helping enterprise customers confidently adopt critical workflow products. The position combines people leadership, technical judgment, release readiness, customer issue resolution, and quality engineering. You will work across Mac, Windows, Chrome, and Edge environments, addressing complex customer scenarios and deployment risks. The role partners closely with Engineering, Product, Design, and Customer Success to embed quality throughout the product lifecycle. You will help evolve testing practices through exploratory testing, targeted automation, and stronger engineering-owned coverage. Success requires an experienced people leader who can balance delivery speed with reliability and communicate quality risks clearly.

Accountabilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a distributed team of QA engineers by setting expectations, providing actionable feedback, managing performance, and supporting career growth.
  • Own the QA roadmap and prioritize testing, tooling, and quality initiatives based on customer impact and business priorities.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, and Customer Success to define release readiness, identify risks early, and support successful enterprise deployments.
  • Lead efforts to reproduce challenging customer issues by recreating relevant environments, isolating failures, validating fixes, and preventing regressions.
  • Improve testing strategies by combining exploratory testing, targeted automation, and engineering-owned test coverage.
  • Address quality risks across areas such as performance, session persistence, authentication, and workflow capture correctness.
  • Translate testing evidence, uncertainty, risks, and recommended actions into clear communication for both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Work directly with customers and their IT teams when complex issues require deeper investigation or environment-specific troubleshooting.
  • Turn customer learnings and recurring issues into repeatable testing practices and improved rollout processes.
  • Help balance release velocity with product reliability and maintain a clear focus on customer impact.
  • Demonstrated experience managing QA or quality engineering teams within a high-growth technology environment.
  • Strong record of coaching engineers, managing performance, developing talent, and building teams that take ownership of quality.
  • Experience developing and executing QA strategies that translate product and customer risks into clear priorities and measurable outcomes.
  • Hands-on experience reproducing complex customer-environment issues, validating fixes, and identifying potential regressions.
  • Strong technical judgment and willingness to engage directly with technical details when necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Engineering, Product, Design, Customer Success, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, including exploratory testing, automation, release validation, and risk-based testing.
  • Ability to investigate ambiguous issues, determine when additional analysis is required, escalate meaningful risks, and make sound release-readiness recommendations.
  • Experience with desktop applications, browser extensions, enterprise device management, security software, or authentication is highly relevant.
  • Experience managing distributed or remote QA teams is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work permanently from the United States; Eastern Time Zone is preferred.
  • Competitive base salary ranging from $150,000–$220,000, depending on location and experience.
  • Equity participation as part of the compensation package.
  • Remote-first opportunity for employees based in the United States.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Flexible paid time off and company holidays.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Home office stipend.
  • Catered lunches and commuter benefits for eligible office-based employees.
  • Opportunity to lead a distributed QA organization and directly influence product reliability and enterprise customer success.
  • Collaborative environment with close partnership across Engineering, Product, Design, and Customer Success.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
