This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Jr Accountant based in India.
This is an opportunity to join a fully remote finance function supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of a Canadian business. You will take ownership of core bookkeeping, payroll, invoicing, reconciliations, and financial reporting activities. The role offers broad exposure to accounting operations while contributing to stronger processes, controls, and financial systems. You’ll work independently while collaborating closely with a Canada-based team, management, and external accounting professionals. Your attention to detail will directly support accurate financial records, timely reporting, and sound business decisions. The position is well suited to a proactive accounting professional who enjoys improving processes and working across a range of finance responsibilities.
Accountabilities
- Manage end-to-end bookkeeping activities and maintain accurate, complete, and well-organized financial records.
- Process payroll accurately and within required deadlines.
- Prepare and issue customer invoices, monitor receivables, and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities and ensure required information is available on time.
- Assist with the implementation and improvement of accounting systems, financial processes, internal controls, and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure accounting activities comply with applicable accounting principles, tax requirements, and internal policies.
- Maintain organized and accessible financial documentation and supporting records.
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, management, and other stakeholders as required.
- Monitor cash flow and provide relevant financial information and insights to management.
- Support budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, and expense analysis.
- Prepare cost estimates and customer quotations when required.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, financial reporting, and automation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of professional accounting and bookkeeping experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, bookkeeping practices, and financial reporting.
- Hands-on experience processing payroll.
- Proficiency with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho Books, Sage, or comparable systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively in a fully remote environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a distributed team supporting Canadian business operations.
- Experience working with Canadian companies or Canadian accounting practices is preferred.
- Familiarity with Canadian payroll, GST/HST, and financial reporting requirements is an advantage.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, customer quotations, pricing models, or project cost estimation is beneficial.
- Knowledge of process improvement and financial automation tools is a plus.
