This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager, Retail Inventory Operations based in United States.
This role leads retail inventory operations across a large U.S. store network, with a strong focus on product availability, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency. You will own the strategy and continuous improvement of in-store inventory processes, from receiving and returns to transfers and outbound shipments. The position also serves as the business owner for the in-store technology roadmap, including point-of-sale systems and store hardware. You will partner closely with Retail Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, IT, Digital, Loss Prevention, and Training teams to deliver measurable improvements. A key focus will be reducing inventory shrink while enabling store teams to work with intuitive processes and reliable technology. You will lead a small team while influencing senior stakeholders and driving cross-functional initiatives from strategy through execution. This is an opportunity to shape the future of retail operations in a fast-moving, customer-focused environment.
Accountabilities
- Design, document, manage, and continuously improve in-store logistics processes, including receiving, unpacking, sorting, returns, store-to-store transfers, and outbound shipments.
- Develop and implement strategies that improve on-floor inventory availability and accuracy, leveraging RFID and other inventory technologies.
- Establish inventory training, compliance, and operating standards across sales floors, back-of-house areas, and staging locations.
- Partner with Transportation and Supply Chain teams to align delivery schedules, receiving windows, and carrier performance with store capabilities.
- Lead omni-channel inventory and fulfillment capabilities, including Buy Online, Pick Up In Store (BOPIS), Ship From Store, and emerging fulfillment models.
- Develop and execute strategies to reduce operational and administrative inventory shrink, working with Loss Prevention and Finance to identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Design and manage inventory audit programs that proactively identify risks and protect inventory integrity.
- Own the in-store technology roadmap in partnership with Digital and IT, prioritizing initiatives that improve efficiency, reliability, and customer experience.
- Oversee the lifecycle of store hardware, including procurement, deployment, replacement, and maintenance of POS systems, handheld scanners, mobile devices, and related networking equipment.
- Represent the needs of store associates and customers when influencing technology design and operational solutions.
- Lead, coach, and develop a small team, setting clear objectives, providing feedback, and supporting professional growth.
- Partner with Retail Training to ensure new processes and technology deployments are supported by effective training and change management.
- Build strong relationships with senior leaders and cross-functional partners across Retail Operations, IT, Finance, Supply Chain, Digital, and related functions.
- At least 5 years of experience in workforce management, retail operations analytics, labor planning, inventory operations, or a related analytical or operational field.
- Strong knowledge of retail store operations, service models, inventory processes, and opportunities to improve operating routines.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with strong capabilities in data modeling, analytics, and financial analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze operational data, identify trends and risks, and translate insights into practical business improvements.
- Experience leading direct reports or project teams, including coaching, prioritization, performance management, and execution through others.
- Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and deliver results against competing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience working effectively with field teams, Finance, IT, Product, Supply Chain, and other business partners.
- Excellent executive communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and gain alignment across functions.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, particularly in environments where success depends on collaboration rather than direct authority.
- Sound financial acumen and the ability to connect operational decisions with business performance.
- A proactive, analytical, and solutions-oriented mindset with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience is preferred.
- Competitive annual base salary of approximately $101,300–$165,000 USD, with the final offer determined by location, experience, qualifications, skills, performance, and business needs.
- 401(k) matching contribution of $1.25 for every $1 contributed, up to the first 6% of eligible pay.
- Five hours of paid volunteer time each month for eligible nonprofit activities.
- 50% discount on regular-price merchandise.
- Remote work opportunity within the United States.
- Inclusive and collaborative workplace committed to diversity, equal opportunity, and belonging.
- Workplace accommodations available throughout the recruitment process for candidates who require them.
- Opportunities to make a meaningful impact across retail operations, technology, inventory, and customer experience.
