The role combines analytical problem-solving, attention to detail, business judgment, and customer impact in a fast-paced environment. You’ll contribute to improving processes, tools, and loss-prevention mechanisms while developing valuable knowledge of payment risk and fraud prevention. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive student who enjoys solving complex problems, learning quickly, and taking ownership.

Accountabilities

  • Investigate disputed credit card, debit card, and ACH transactions and determine appropriate actions to resolve cases within established deadlines.
  • Review individual transactions using internal policies, procedures, and investigation methodologies to identify patterns, trends, and potential risk factors.
  • Analyze account and transaction data to understand behavioral patterns and support accurate case decisions.
  • Collaborate with fraud, disputes, and other relevant teams to determine the appropriate resolution for individual cases.
  • Work with analysts, operations specialists, data scientists, and engineering teams to identify opportunities to improve loss-prevention processes, tools, and mechanisms.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of fraud risks, prevention techniques, payment disputes, and relevant technologies.
  • Meet or exceed established service-level agreements (SLAs) for timely resolution of assigned cases while helping minimize potential losses.
  • Handle escalations from internal and external stakeholders in a professional, efficient, and solutions-oriented manner.
  • Identify recurring issues and provide recommendations to management on opportunities to improve or scale operational processes.
  • Develop a strong understanding of internal systems, tools, data sources, and workflows used to investigate risk and dispute cases.
  • Use data and evidence to make timely decisions in situations that may involve ambiguity or competing priorities.
  • Leverage Claude or equivalent large language model tools to enhance research, productivity, analysis, and professional communication.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree and available to work full-time during the internship.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate information and make sound decisions.
  • Comfortable working with data and making meaningful decisions in a fast-paced environment where situations may sometimes be ambiguous.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cases, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Good business judgment and the ability to communicate findings, decisions, and recommendations clearly.
  • Ability to take initiative, learn quickly, and work independently with limited supervision after training.
  • Demonstrated experience using Claude or an equivalent large language model tool, with the ability to leverage AI effectively for research, productivity, and communication.
  • Strong sense of ownership and consistently high standards for accuracy and quality.
  • Willingness to challenge existing approaches constructively and contribute ideas for improving processes.
  • Action-oriented mindset with the ability to make timely decisions and take calculated risks when appropriate.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust through attentive listening, clear communication, and respectful collaboration.
  • Resilient and results-oriented, with the ability to maintain quality and productivity when faced with setbacks or changing priorities.
  • Previous internship or work experience is a plus, particularly in analytics, operations, finance, risk, fraud, customer support, technology, or related fields.
  • Compensation: $800 USD per month.
  • Employment type: Paid, full-time independent contractor internship.
  • Work arrangement: Fully remote from Brazil.
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM Central Time.
  • Opportunity to gain hands-on experience in risk management, payment disputes, fraud prevention, and fintech operations.
  • Exposure to credit card, debit card, and ACH transaction analysis.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with fraud, disputes, operations, data science, and engineering professionals.
  • Practical experience using data and AI-assisted tools to support investigations and operational decisions.
  • Opportunity to develop expertise in fraud prevention, payment risk, loss prevention, and dispute resolution.
  • Fast-paced environment offering opportunities to learn, take ownership, and develop professionally.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
