This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Account Director based in United States.

This is a senior client services leadership role within the medical communications sector, overseeing a portfolio of high-profile publications and medical affairs accounts. You’ll serve as a strategic partner to senior client stakeholders, guiding complex programs while ensuring scientific quality, operational excellence, and strong financial performance. The role spans global publication programs, medical affairs initiatives, strategic communications planning, and cross-functional delivery. You’ll lead and develop Client Services professionals while helping teams navigate priorities, timelines, risks, and stakeholder expectations. You’ll also contribute to organic account growth and new business through proposals, pitches, RFPs, budgets, and client onboarding. Success requires a strong combination of medical communications expertise, commercial awareness, financial acumen, and people leadership. This is an opportunity to operate at a senior level within a collaborative, globally connected environment serving health and life sciences clients.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple publications and medical affairs accounts, ensuring high-quality, compliant delivery.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and provide proactive strategic counsel and solutions to complex challenges.
  • Oversee publication programs including abstracts, posters, manuscripts, congress activities, and related deliverables.
  • Support broader medical affairs initiatives and develop strategic medical communications plans in partnership with Scientific Services and cross-functional teams.
  • Establish and champion operational best practices that improve delivery quality, efficiency, and account performance.
  • Own account financial performance, including budgets, forecasting, profitability, reconciliation, invoicing, and Statements of Work.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Client Services team members, including managers and multiple direct reports.
  • Support account growth by identifying opportunities to expand existing client partnerships and services.
  • Lead and contribute to business development activities, including proposals, pitches, RFPs/RFIs, presentations, budgets, and new-business onboarding.
  • Partner with senior Client Services leadership on resource planning, team development, training, and new service offerings.
  • Maintain strong collaboration across scientific, client services, and other functions while managing risks, priorities, timelines, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Extensive experience within a medical communications agency environment, with strong expertise across publications and medical affairs.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple complex client accounts and providing strategic counsel to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of publication planning and execution, medical affairs communications, industry standards, and relevant compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience leading and developing Client Services teams, including managing managers and/or multiple direct reports.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, profitability management, SOW development, and account growth.
  • Experience contributing to or leading new business development activities, including proposals, pitches, and RFP/RFI responses.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, combined with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple stakeholders, priorities, timelines, and complex programs simultaneously.
  • Experience using platforms such as iEnvision, Veeva, or comparable systems.
  • Strong client relationship management skills and confidence operating with senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide strategic leadership while remaining focused on operational execution and measurable account outcomes.
  • $130,000–$160,000 USD annual base salary.
  • Comprehensive bonus plan.
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Generous 401(k) match.
  • Vacation, sick, and personal days.
  • Generous company holiday program.
  • Expanded paid leave for new parents.
  • Flexible benefits and personal support programs.
  • Tailored learning and development opportunities.
  • Remote work within the United States.
  • Opportunity to lead high-profile medical communications and medical affairs programs.
  • Exposure to global publications, health and life sciences clients, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Leadership and development opportunities through team management, account growth, and new business activities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
