This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Community Relations – Business Development Representative based in the United States.

This is a remote, full-time opportunity focused on expanding referral networks and strengthening community relationships within the behavioral health sector. The role serves as a key liaison between treatment programs, referral partners, healthcare professionals, and prospective clients. You will build and maintain long-term relationships with decision-makers across healthcare and community organizations. The position combines business development, community outreach, relationship management, and referral coordination. You will work independently while collaborating closely with treatment facility leadership and internal teams. Success in this role requires strong communication, initiative, geographic awareness, and a genuine commitment to helping individuals access appropriate care. Candidates must be located within approximately two hours of Beckley, West Virginia.

Accountabilities:

  • Support behavioral health program initiatives through strategic community outreach and relationship-building activities.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with senior executives, medical professionals, and key decision-makers at prospective referral organizations.
  • Maintain a consistent schedule that balances ongoing referral-partner engagement with new business development opportunities.
  • Manage referral and admissions processes effectively, helping convert inquiries into appropriate admissions while ensuring a positive experience for prospective clients and referral partners.
  • Identify and develop referral opportunities within the assigned geographic territory.
  • Collaborate on marketing and public relations materials designed to establish and strengthen relationships within the local community.
  • Maintain a network of professional contacts and provide regular follow-up, data, and feedback to internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate meetings with referral partners and prospective clients, including facility tours when appropriate.
  • Work closely with leadership and treatment facility teams to identify and develop new business opportunities.
  • Develop and participate in seminars, educational initiatives, and community campaigns designed to generate new referral relationships.
  • Identify barriers that may prevent clients from accessing appropriate services and help communicate potential solutions.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned while consistently demonstrating kindness, teamwork, empathy, integrity, excellence, and commitment to the mission.
  • 2+ years of experience in sales, business development, community relations, or a related field.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry is preferred, with substance use disorder or mental health experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, healthcare, business, or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience may also be considered.
  • General understanding of treatment modalities, levels of care, and industry best practices for substance use and co-occurring disorders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with professionals, clients, and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to build trusted, long-term professional relationships with individuals at different levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage a schedule effectively, and take initiative while also contributing as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply sound judgment when dealing with varied situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret policies, procedures, safety rules, and other relevant documentation.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing departmental and business needs.
  • Comfortable with in-person meetings, public speaking, telephone communication, email, video conferencing, and regular interaction with external partners.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including extended periods of sitting or standing, repetitive hand movements, and occasional lifting or moving of items.
