The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager, OLO based in Canada.

This role provides senior engineering leadership for a customer-facing web ordering experience designed to directly drive revenue for local businesses. You’ll lead a team of full-stack engineers building experiences across menus, carts, checkout, promotions, photos, and menu quality. A major focus will be using experimentation, funnel analysis, and automation to improve guest conversion and measurable business outcomes. You’ll also help scale the product for enterprise and multi-location customers while improving reliability and handling increasingly complex menu environments. The role combines technical execution, product judgment, people leadership, and high-impact prioritization in a fast-moving environment. You’ll be expected to maintain a healthy, high-performing team while remaining technically credible and hands-on when needed. This is an opportunity to own a highly visible product area where engineering decisions can directly influence revenue, customer experience, and business growth.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead a team of 6–10+ full-stack engineers responsible for the guest web ordering experience and supporting systems.
  • Build and evolve experimentation capabilities that improve guest conversion across checkout, fulfillment, merchandising, and promotions.
  • Lead initiatives to scale the ordering experience for enterprise and multi-location customers, including the reliability and menu complexity required at larger scale.
  • Drive improvements to menu quality systems, including automated detection, remediation, and ongoing optimization across approximately 10,000 merchant-created menus.
  • Expand photo coverage through guest sourcing, automated replacement, licensed catalogs, and generated imagery, using measurable gross payment volume impact to guide investment.
  • Rebuild and improve promotions capabilities, including redemption experiences, badges, auto-apply functionality, and merchandising.
  • Reduce fulfillment selection errors and support the ongoing migration from MongoDB to PostgreSQL.
  • Make clear prioritization decisions across a broad roadmap, balancing technical complexity, customer value, team capacity, and measurable business impact.
  • Partner closely with Product, Design, and adjacent engineering teams to establish direction, align priorities, and deliver high-quality experiences.
  • Maintain strong team health, provide technical and career guidance, and help engineers perform effectively through demanding or repetitive workloads.
  • Set a high engineering bar for quality, simplicity, reliability, experimentation, and sustainable delivery.
  • 3+ years of engineering management experience, ideally leading teams of 6–10+ engineers working on customer-facing products.
  • Proven experience leading growth or conversion programs using metrics, A/B testing at scale, funnel analysis, and experimentation.
  • Demonstrated experience scaling products for enterprise or multi-location customers.
  • Strong prioritization and decision-making skills, with the ability to turn a roadmap larger than the available team capacity into clear, focused execution priorities.
  • Strong technical credibility across full-stack web development, particularly React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
  • Experience working with data-intensive systems and modern web architectures.
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical involvement with effective people and engineering leadership.
  • Demonstrated commitment to team health, with experience supporting engineers through periods of high workload or repetitive operational demands.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with Product, Design, and engineering partners.
  • Strong product intuition and a focus on measurable customer and business outcomes.
  • Comfort operating with urgency, ambiguity, and a bias toward simple, practical solutions.
  • Experience with technologies such as Next.js, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Temporal, Datadog, or experimentation platforms is valuable.
  • Remote-first, 100% remote role available to candidates based in Canada or the United States.
  • Estimated base salary of $250,000–$270,000, depending on experience and location.
  • Generous pre-IPO equity package.
  • Comprehensive health coverage.
  • Unlimited paid time off.
  • Additional employee perks and benefits.
  • Opportunity to lead a high-impact customer-facing product area with direct influence on revenue and conversion.
  • Significant ownership over engineering strategy, product direction, experimentation, and team development.
  • Opportunity to work with a modern TypeScript-based stack spanning React, Next.js, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Temporal, and Datadog.
  • Remote-first environment with a globally distributed team.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
