The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Lead Engineer, Testing based in India.

This is a senior testing role combining deep manual testing expertise with hands-on automation and enterprise-scale quality engineering. You will investigate complex customer issues, validate fixes, strengthen regression coverage, and improve testing practices across products and client configurations. The role sits at the intersection of Product, Support QA, Engineering, and internal tooling teams. You will evaluate automation approaches and guide teams toward solutions that balance reliability, maintainability, coverage, and business value. A key part of the role is coaching automation specialists and establishing reusable testing standards across the organization. You will also influence the evolution and adoption of an enterprise automation platform, helping shape its roadmap and governance. The position offers significant technical ownership and the opportunity to improve quality practices at scale.

Accountabilities

  • Investigate, reproduce, and document customer issues across different environments, roles, configurations, and client variants.
  • Design and execute functional, integration, regression, smoke, exploratory, and end-to-end testing.
  • Validate business rules, permissions, APIs, databases, integrations, batch jobs, asynchronous processes, and time-dependent scenarios.
  • Review requirements and acceptance criteria to identify testability, coverage, and quality gaps.
  • Validate fixes, hotfixes, and releases while providing clear and comprehensive test evidence.
  • Create high-quality defect reports containing impact assessments, reproduction steps, logs, and supporting data.
  • Partner with Support and Engineering teams on defect triage, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
  • Convert recurring issues into regression tests, reusable test data, or automated coverage where appropriate.
  • Evaluate the enterprise automation platform against real product and support requirements, including dynamic data and multi-role workflows.
  • Compare platform-generated automation with Selenium or Playwright solutions to assess reliability, coverage, maintainability, and support effort.
  • Recommend appropriate automation strategies, including platform-based, coded, or hybrid approaches.
  • Guide Automation Design Specialists in developing reusable components, shared action libraries, test suites, and maintainable test data.
  • Help establish API, database, batch-job, and CI/CD integration patterns for automated testing.
  • Review automated tests for stability, meaningful assertions, diagnostics, and long-term maintenance requirements.
  • Support Git branching practices across multiple products, customers, and product variants.
  • Establish testing standards for naming, folder structures, test organization, test data, reporting, and governance.
  • Promote reusable test design and consistent quality practices across teams.
  • Partner with internal tooling teams to identify platform limitations, communicate improvement opportunities, and influence the automation roadmap.
  • Support enterprise-wide rollout and adoption of testing platforms and standards beyond pilot teams.
  • Coach testers on manual testing, automation, troubleshooting, framework migration, and appropriate automation decisions.
  • Track and report quality OKRs covering test coverage, defect prevention, automation adoption, platform usage, and support quality.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting or leading an enterprise-scale test automation platform.
  • Strong hands-on experience in manual testing, defect investigation, regression testing, and release validation.
  • Practical experience with Selenium and/or Playwright.
  • Good knowledge of API testing, database validation, test data management, and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience testing dynamic data, multi-role workflows, integrations, asynchronous processing, and/or batch jobs.
  • Experience managing Git branching across multiple products, clients, configurations, or variants.
  • Ability to evaluate different automation approaches and recommend solutions based on risk, value, reliability, maintainability, and support requirements.
  • Experience influencing teams to adopt testing standards and best practices without relying on formal authority.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and testing judgment skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience working with products that have multiple client configurations is advantageous.
  • Experience in insurance or another regulated industry is a plus.
  • Experience leading test framework migrations or building/configuring automation frameworks, reusable libraries, or test utilities is desirable.
  • Experience developing a custom automation framework from the ground up is beneficial.
  • Experience partnering with internal tooling or platform engineering teams is preferred.
  • Familiarity with accessibility, performance, security, or compliance testing is a plus.
  • Fully remote working opportunity from India.
  • Senior technical role with significant ownership of enterprise testing and automation practices.
  • Opportunity to influence automation standards, governance, tooling strategy, and platform adoption.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with Product, Engineering, Support QA, and internal tooling teams.
  • Opportunity to guide and mentor automation specialists and testing professionals.
  • Exposure to enterprise-scale automation, API testing, database validation, CI/CD, and complex integration scenarios.
  • Opportunity to shape reusable testing practices across multiple products and client configurations.
  • Ability to contribute directly to measurable improvements in test coverage, defect prevention, automation adoption, and support quality.
  • Opportunity to work with modern automation technologies including Selenium and Playwright.
  • Full-time employment with long-term opportunities for technical growth and leadership.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
