This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Manager, Category and Commercial Development based in the United States.

This is a strategic commercial leadership role focused on driving category growth and commercialization for a growing Baby portfolio. You will combine consumer, shopper, retailer, competitive, and market insights to identify opportunities that strengthen distribution, assortment, and profitable growth. The role sits at the intersection of Category Management, Sales, Brand Marketing, Revenue Management, Customer Planning, Consumer Insights, and Finance. You will shape category strategies and customer-facing stories that influence retailer decisions and strengthen long-term commercial partnerships. A key part of the position is serving as the commercial voice throughout innovation, helping turn promising concepts into successful launches and sustainable market performance. You will work in a fully remote, entrepreneurial, and purpose-driven environment where collaboration, curiosity, and the ability to influence without authority are highly valued. This opportunity is well suited to an experienced CPG category leader who enjoys turning complex data into clear strategies and tangible business results.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop annual category growth strategies aligned with broader business objectives and market opportunities.
  • Serve as the category expert by leveraging consumer, shopper, retailer, syndicated, and competitive insights to identify growth drivers and emerging trends.
  • Build category visions, narratives, and playbooks that support retail growth and inform go-to-market strategies.
  • Lead category reviews and create compelling, insight-led presentations that influence retailer decisions and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Develop customer-specific category recommendations that align with retailer growth objectives.
  • Build trusted relationships with Sales teams and retail category managers to support joint business planning and category leadership opportunities.
  • Identify whitespace opportunities, assortment optimization priorities, and portfolio growth opportunities.
  • Translate syndicated data, retailer-specific information, and shopper research into actionable recommendations.
  • Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to develop and execute Baby category strategies across Product, Price, Place, and Promotion.
  • Partner with Brand Marketing on portfolio architecture, assortment strategy, innovation development, and customer needs.
  • Work with Strategic Revenue Management to evaluate pricing opportunities, competitive positioning, price-pack architecture, and promotional effectiveness.
  • Define distribution and shelving strategies across channels and customers while identifying opportunities for expansion.
  • Recommend customer activation strategies aligned with category objectives and growth priorities.
  • Serve as the commercial and sales voice throughout the innovation commercialization process.
  • Develop commercialization strategies, launch plans, distribution targets, and retail sell-in approaches for new products.
  • Collaborate with Customer Planning to align commercialization plans with customer strategies and forecasts.
  • Monitor post-launch performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and capture learnings to strengthen future innovation launches.
  • Share commercialization insights and best practices across the organization.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Category Management, Category Development, Commercial Strategy, Sales Strategy, or related CPG functions.
  • Proven experience developing and executing category growth strategies that improve market share, distribution, retailer partnerships, and profitable revenue growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to use syndicated data sources such as Circana/IRI, NielsenIQ, SPINS, Numerator, retailer POS, and shopper insights to develop recommendations.
  • Experience creating customer-facing category stories and retailer presentations that influence distribution, assortment, and category growth decisions.
  • Strong understanding of category management principles, shopper behavior, consumer insights, and retail dynamics.
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally on innovation commercialization and portfolio strategy.
  • Working knowledge of the 4Ps and their application across different retail channels.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to turn complex data into clear, actionable business recommendations.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation capabilities, including experience presenting recommendations to senior leadership and external retail partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively without direct authority.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and deliver results in a fast-growing environment.
  • Collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Passion for building consumer-centric, category-leading businesses and driving commercial excellence.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
  • Genuine interest in improving childhood nutrition and contributing to a purpose-driven mission.
  • Must reside in the United States.

  • Anticipated salary range of $140,000–$165,000, with actual compensation determined based on factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
