The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Member of Technical Staff based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to build software that supports complex, high-value legal workflows. You will tackle engineering challenges spanning document processing, AI integrations, APIs, backend services, and user-facing experiences. The position combines hands-on product engineering with meaningful ownership from technical design through production release and iteration. You will work closely with engineers and domain experts to translate real user needs into reliable, practical technology. A key focus will be integrating AI capabilities into production workflows while maintaining quality, speed, and dependable performance. As part of a distributed team, you will have substantial influence over technical decisions, product direction, and engineering standards. The environment emphasizes ownership, collaboration, strong engineering fundamentals, and continuous improvement.

Accountabilities:

  • Build and maintain reliable APIs, backend services, and document-processing workflows that support research, drafting, review, and completed legal work.
  • Own core product features throughout the development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation through release, monitoring, and iterative improvement.
  • Integrate AI and large language model capabilities into practical production workflows, with a strong focus on quality, performance, reliability, and predictable behavior.
  • Develop and improve user-facing interfaces for complex document-related tasks, working across the technology stack to create intuitive and effective experiences.
  • Translate user and business needs into clear engineering plans while evaluating technical tradeoffs and communicating the reasoning behind key decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and legal-domain experts in a distributed, cross-functional environment to deliver meaningful product improvements.
  • Investigate production issues, optimize system performance, and strengthen testing, monitoring, reliability, and overall code quality.
  • Contribute to engineering standards through thoughtful code reviews, debugging, system improvements, and continuous iteration after product launches.
  • Demonstrated experience building, shipping, and maintaining production web applications or services, supported by strong software design and engineering fundamentals.
  • Strong programming abilities in a modern language such as Python or TypeScript, with the ability to produce maintainable and production-ready code.
  • Hands-on experience with APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, distributed backend systems, or related technologies, including designing and operating reliable services.
  • Experience developing document-processing workflows and integrating AI or LLM capabilities into production applications.
  • Practical knowledge of software testing, code review, debugging, performance optimization, monitoring, and improving systems after launch.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and tradeoffs clearly to both technical and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ownership, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a distributed team.
  • Experience with frontend development, complex data or security requirements, legal technology, workflow automation, or related domains is considered valuable.
  • Ability to operate effectively in an environment where product and technical decisions require balancing reliability, usability, performance, and user needs.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States, as visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
  • Annual base salary of $180,000–$250,000 USD, depending on skills, experience, and role scope.
  • Remote work opportunity within the United States.
  • Significant ownership over engineering initiatives and direct input into product and technical decisions.
  • Opportunity to work on practical AI applications, document-processing technology, APIs, backend systems, and user-facing product experiences.
  • Exposure to complex workflows and the opportunity to build technology designed to make demanding professional processes more reliable and efficient.
  • Collaborative environment with distributed, cross-functional teams and substantial individual responsibility.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
