Help shape innovative learning experiences that make professional development and lifelong learning more accessible, engaging, and effective. In this role, you will lead the design and development of non-credit courses and workforce-focused programs, including micro-credentials, digital badges, bootcamps, and executive certificates. You will collaborate with faculty, subject matter experts, internal teams, and external industry partners to turn complex learning needs into practical, learner-centered educational experiences. Combining instructional design expertise with project management, multimedia development, and emerging learning technologies, you will oversee projects from initial planning through delivery and evaluation. You will also mentor instructional designers, coordinate stakeholders, and ensure that learning solutions meet quality standards, project timelines, and the needs of adult professionals. This remote opportunity offers the chance to contribute to a collaborative educational environment while advancing flexible, technology-enhanced learning.

Accountabilities

  • Lead instructional design projects: Manage the planning, design, development, and delivery of non-credit courses, professional development programs, and special learning initiatives, ensuring projects meet deadlines and quality expectations.
  • Develop workforce-focused learning programs: Scope and launch short-form learning experiences, including micro-credentials, digital badges, bootcamps, and executive certificates that address emerging workforce skills and professional learning needs.
  • Collaborate with external partners: Work with industry organizations, corporate sponsors, professional associations, community groups, and other stakeholders to translate complex business and industry requirements into tailored training programs.
  • Design engaging learning experiences: Create learner-centered online, asynchronous, hybrid, face-to-face, and print-based instructional materials tailored to adult professionals who need flexible schedules, practical applications, and intuitive learning environments.
  • Partner with faculty and subject matter experts: Develop instructional design documents, storyboards, learning objectives, teaching strategies, and assessment plans in collaboration with faculty, content specialists, and other contributors.
  • Conduct needs and performance analyses: Identify learner requirements, skill gaps, and performance challenges to inform instructional strategies and program development.
  • Oversee project coordination: Create project plans, manage deliverables, establish priorities, coordinate reviews and approvals, monitor progress, communicate updates, and resolve development issues with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide team members: Assign work, set priorities, monitor progress, and provide coaching and feedback to instructional designers, student employees, and other project contributors as needed.
  • Evaluate learning effectiveness: Conduct formative and summative evaluations of courses and training programs, assess learning outcomes, and perform usability and learnability analyses of instructional prototypes and environments.
  • Apply instructional technologies: Use visual design, multimedia development, and course-authoring tools to create effective learning materials and explore new technologies, instructional theories, and approaches.
  • Advise and support educators: Consult with faculty and staff on teaching strategies, educational resources, learning technologies, course design, and effective instructional practices.
  • Maintain documentation and standards: Create and update resources covering pedagogy, instructional design, educational tools, and teaching techniques, while supporting accessibility and continuous improvement.
  • Support strategic initiatives: Collaborate with leadership, learning and development teams, divisional partners, and other instructional technology professionals to advance educational objectives and contribute to proposals, grants, and contracts where appropriate.
  • A master's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education, or a related field.
  • At least three years of professional experience in course design and development, faculty training, or program and course assessment or evaluation. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered under applicable qualification guidelines.
  • Required experience with Canvas or demonstrated proficiency using a learning management system in an instructional design environment.
  • Experience with academic course design, project management, and course-authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline or comparable platforms is preferred.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Genially, Articulate Rise, Descript, and Camtasia is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design principles, learning strategies, needs assessment, educational technologies, and assessment and evaluation methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, develop project plans, coordinate contributors, monitor timelines, and deliver high-quality instructional materials.
  • Experience designing online, blended, asynchronous, or face-to-face learning experiences, particularly for adult learners and professional development audiences.
  • Strong communication, consulting, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty, subject matter experts, designers, developers, and external partners.
  • Ability to mentor team members, provide constructive feedback, prioritize competing demands, and maintain accountability for project outcomes.
  • Visual design, multimedia development, usability testing, and accessibility awareness, including familiarity with ADA-related considerations, are beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate learning effectiveness, identify improvement opportunities, and adapt instructional approaches to evolving needs.
  • A proactive, flexible, and collaborative approach to exploring emerging technologies and developing practical, engaging learning solutions.
  • Salary: Annual starting salary range of $66,215–$116,130, commensurate with experience.
  • Remote work: Remote position based in the United States.
  • Employment type: Full-time, exempt position.
  • Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Professional impact: Opportunity to design innovative learning programs that support professional development, lifelong learning, and workforce skill advancement.
  • Collaborative environment: Work with faculty, instructional design professionals, subject matter experts, and external partners across a range of educational and professional learning initiatives.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
