The posting

Are you an experienced bid professional who enjoys both creating winning proposals and developing the relationships that lead to new business?

At Karntek, we're looking for a commercially minded Bid Manager who combines excellent bid-writing skills with the confidence to spot opportunities, engage prospective clients and help grow our business.

You'll take ownership of compelling tender submissions, produce engaging proposals and sales materials, and work with our management and technical teams to turn specialist compliance knowledge into persuasive, client-focused content. Just as importantly, you'll research future opportunities and build relationships across the social housing and public sectors.

If you enjoy the full journey - from opening a new conversation to submitting a strong bid - this is an opportunity to make a genuine impact in a growing business.

Finding Opportunities & Supporting Growth

  • Research and identify relevant tender opportunities across social housing, local authorities and the wider public sector.
  • Keep an eye on procurement portals, frameworks and upcoming contracts to spot opportunities early.
  • Assess potential bids against Karntek's expertise, capacity and commercial priorities.
  • Build and maintain a clear pipeline of current and future opportunities.

Building Client Relationships

  • Develop positive working relationships with housing associations, registered providers, local authorities and procurement teams.
  • Reach out to prospective clients, introduce Karntek's services and understand their upcoming needs.
  • Build relationships with relevant decision-makers and explore future opportunities ahead of formal procurement, where the rules allow.
  • Stay in touch with prospective clients and work with management to develop long-term relationships.

Bid Writing, Proposals & Sales Materials

  • Take ownership of the bid process, from assessing opportunities and planning responses to delivering completed submissions.
  • Write compelling, accurate and tailored tender responses that clearly explain Karntek's strengths and value to clients.
  • Create and refresh polished pitch decks, proposal documents and service overviews, turning technical and compliance information into clear, persuasive messages for different audiences.
  • Work closely with technical colleagues and management to gather evidence, case studies and the information needed to build strong proposals.
  • Manage several bids and proposals at once, ensuring each is accurate, compliant and submitted on time.

Making Every Bid Better

  • Review bid outcomes and evaluator feedback to understand what works and strengthen future submissions.
  • Work with management to set achievable bid-performance goals and improve our chances of securing profitable contracts.
  • Keep our library of bid responses, case studies and supporting information organised and up to date.
  • Track submissions, feedback and win rates so we can see progress over time.
  • Recommend practical improvements to bid content, quality and ways of working.
  • Share clear updates with management on tenders, client conversations and the opportunity pipeline.

Requirements

• Experience writing and coordinating successful tenders in the public sector and/or social housing sector.

• Familiarity with bids for housing associations, registered providers, local authorities or similar organisations.

• A sound understanding of UK public procurement, frameworks and tender requirements.

• The ability to run bids independently and keep multiple deadlines on track.

• Confidence engaging prospective clients and helping identify new business opportunities.

• Excellent writing and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical subjects simply and persuasively.

• Commercial awareness, strong organisation and attention to detail.

• A proactive, collaborative approach and the confidence to suggest new ideas.

Personal qualities

• Like taking ownership and seeing projects through from start to finish.

• Enjoy spotting opportunities and thinking about how to win new business.

• Feel comfortable building rapport with clients and colleagues, whether by phone, online or in person.

• Can balance persuasive writing with an understanding of what matters to clients.

• Take pride in delivering thoughtful, accurate and professional work.

Most importantly, you'll recognise that winning a bid starts with understanding the client long before the submission deadline.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary package
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Company pension and discretionary bonus scheme.
  • Employee recognition programmes, including Employee of the Month.
  • Genuine career development and progression opportunities.
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).
  • Exclusive employee shopping discounts and savings.
  • Supportive, collaborative team culture.
  • A commitment to paying at least the National Living Wage.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
