Location: Duncan, SC

Reports To: VP Operations

Job Type: Full-time

Job Summary: We are seeking a hands-on, service-oriented IT Generalist. The IT Generalist is the company’s onsite IT specialist, supporting office staff, project teams, and shop floor operations across our pipe fabrication and modular manufacturing facilities. This role serves as the primary liaison to our IT Master Services Provider (MSP), owns day-to-day end-user support and IT equipment, and is the primary interface and first-line troubleshooter for our Odoo MRP system.

This person makes sure every new hire is set up and productive on day one, keeps devices and the local network running reliably in a demanding industrial environment, and works closely with Operations, Production, Procurement, Accounting, HR, and the MSP to keep the business moving. The IT Generalist will play a key role in helping employees get the most out of our systems as the company grows.

Key Responsibilities:

MSP Liaison & Network Support

  • Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for the IT Master Services Provider, coordinating tickets, escalations, scheduled work, and site visits.
  • Assist the MSP with local network and server maintenance, including patching windows, backup verification, hardware replacement, and hands-on troubleshooting.
  • Maintain the local network across office and shop areas, including switches, Wi-Fi access points, printers and plotters, and connectivity to shop floor equipment.
  • Track open MSP issues and service levels, and report recurring problems and improvement opportunities to the VP Operations.
  • Maintain current documentation of network layout, equipment, licenses, and vendor contacts.

New Hire Setup & Onboarding

  • Ensure all desktops and laptops are properly configured, imaged, and ready for new hires on their first day, in coordination with HR and hiring managers.
  • Set up user accounts, email, software, and role-based access, working with the MSP where required.
  • Deliver new hire IT onboarding training covering company systems, Odoo, security practices, and acceptable use.
  • Manage offboarding by recovering equipment and coordinating timely removal of system access.

Odoo MRP Systems Support

  • Serve as the primary interface and first-line troubleshooter for the Odoo MRP system across production, inventory, purchasing, and accounting users.
  • Resolve user issues, manage user access and roles, and escalate to the Odoo implementation partner or MSP as needed.
  • Train users on Odoo workflows and develop job aids and quick-reference guides.
  • Support data integrity, reporting, and system updates, and help identify process improvements within the MRP.

IT Equipment, Mobile Devices & Shop Tablets

  • Order all IT equipment, including computers, monitors, peripherals, printers, networking gear, cell phones, and shop tablets, within approved standards and budget in coordination with Procurement.
  • Maintain an accurate IT asset inventory covering assignment, warranty, and replacement lifecycle.
  • Manage company cell phones, including carrier account administration, device setup, plan changes, and replacements.
  • Set up and support shop floor tablets used for drawings, travelers, time entry, and Odoo work orders, including rugged cases, mounting, and charging.

End-User Support & Security

  • Provide desktop and end-user support for hardware, software, printing, and peripherals across office and shop users.
  • Reinforce security practices such as multi-factor authentication, password standards, device updates, and phishing awareness in coordination with the MSP.
  • Support client-driven IT and document security requirements on data center and life sciences projects as directed.
  • Support IT setup for facility expansions and new sites as the company grows.

Qualifications & Skills:

Technical Skills

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent work experience; CompTIA A+ or Network+ a plus.
  • 3+ years of hands-on IT support or help desk experience, preferably in a manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of Windows desktop configuration, Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive), and Active Directory or Entra ID.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DHCP/DNS, switches, Wi-Fi access points, and VPN.
  • Experience setting up and supporting mobile devices and tablets (iOS/Android), including mobile device management tools.
  • ERP or MRP experience (SAP, Odoo) in a manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Experience working alongside a Managed or Master Services Provider (MSP) preferred.

Professional Attributes

  • Service-minded and patient, able to explain technology clearly to both office and shop users
  • Organized and self-directed, with strong follow-through on tickets, orders, and documentation
  • Comfortable working on an active shop floor in an industrial environment, using required PPE
  • Clear communicator who can turn user issues into actionable requests for the MSP
  • Trustworthy with confidential information and administrative system access

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary and performance-based incentives.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
