How You Will Make a Difference; What We’re Looking For

The Area General Manager at Kempinski Longosa Lodge, Serengeti provides strategic, operational, and commercial leadership across three newly developed luxury safari lodges: Kempinski Longosa Lodge, Serengeti, Kempinski Msasa Lodge, Lake Manyara, and Kempinski Kitbong Hill Tarangire.

The Area General Manager oversees pre-opening commissioning, guest experience delivery, commercial multi-lodge circuit packaging, off-grid engineering resilience, wildlife authority governance, and host-community empowerment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Pre-Opening

  • Direct the pre-opening operational roadmap, snagging, commissioning, and operational readiness testing across all three properties.
  • Establish seamless multi-property operational alignment, enabling guests to book and travel through a unified Kempinski Northern Circuit itinerary (Serengeti – Manyara – Tarangire).
  • Formulate and implement standardised Operating Procedures (SOPs) adapted to wilderness environments while strictly adhering to Kempinski brand benchmarks.

2. Operations & Remote Asset Management

  • Direct all daily operations across the 75-key Serengeti lodge, 74-key Tarangire lodge, and 25-key Manyara boutique lodge through dedicated on-site Hotel Managers.
  • Oversee complex, decentralised engineering assets: multi-megawatt solar photovoltaic plants, battery energy storage systems (BESS), deep-well borehole extraction, reverse-osmosis water plants, and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Manage robust fleet management and vehicle-maintenance workshops for luxury safari vehicles, airport transfer shuttles, and bush logistics trucks.
  • Maintain crisis management, medevac protocols (flying doctor integrations), bushfire mitigation plans, and perimeter safety across open-concession and national park settings.

3. Supply Chain & Logistics

  • Design and supervise an integrated procurement and supply chain pipeline linking sourcing hubs to remote airstrips and overland delivery corridors.
  • Manage central inventory models to mitigate stock shortages caused by seasonal rains, rough road infrastructure, and park access restrictions.
  • Audit and oversee aviation transfer logistics, guest meet-and-greet services at bush airstrips, and luggage transit flows across properties.

4. Commercial Strategy & Financial Performance

  • Drive total circuit revenue in partnership with Regional Sales & Marketing teams, targeting luxury safari wholesalers, and high-yield direct FIT bookings.
  • Deliver consolidated P&L results, driving RevPAR, GOP, and cost containment without compromising the guest value proposition.
  • Manage complex park-fee pass-through structures, concession fees, bed-night levies, and VAT calculations in compliance with Tanzanian authorities.

5. Government, Authority & Community Relations

  • Act as the primary executive liaison with Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA), the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, and local District Councils.
  • Ensure 100% statutory compliance regarding concession lease agreements, environmental impact audits (NEMC), and annual park operating permits.
  • Build positive relationships with local pastoralist and agricultural communities, driving community outreach, local purchasing programs, and dispute resolution.

6. People & Culture Leadership

  • Drive regional talent acquisition and and developing local management talent.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture across remote staff villages, overseeing employee accommodations, recreation, canteen services, wellness, and rotational leave rosters.
  • Supervise the Kempinski training curriculum, instilling European luxury hospitality service standards tailored to East African warmth and storytelling.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 8+ years of senior leadership experience as an Area General Manager, Cluster GM, or General Manager overseeing high-end luxury safari lodges, bush camps, or remote off-grid multi-unit resorts.
  • Demonstrated pre-opening or re branding experience in remote African destinations is required.
  • Demonstrated track record working within national park and wildlife conservancy regulatory frameworks.
  • Solid background managing high-inventory bush operations alongside boutique operations.
  • Culturally sensitive mentor dedicated to uplifting local communities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
