The posting

Job Description:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Assistant / Fee Earner to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will provide support to our solicitors while also handling their own caseload, depending on experience. This dual role requires excellent organisational skills, legal knowledge, and the ability to deliver high-quality service to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Assist solicitors in managing files, including document preparation, case tracking, and filing. You will also manage a small caseload of lower-value or routine cases as appropriate.
  • Document Preparation: Draft and prepare legal documents, including contracts, correspondence, pleadings, and reports, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Client Communication: Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing regular updates, answering queries, and gathering information to progress cases.
  • Research: Conduct legal research to support case preparation, including researching relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents.
  • Court Filings: Prepare and file legal documents with courts and other legal bodies, ensuring all submissions are completed on time.
  • Billing and Fee Management: Assist in billing processes, manage time entries, and ensure accurate recording of chargeable hours for cases.
  • Administrative Support: Perform general administrative duties, including managing solicitor schedules, booking meetings, and maintaining organised case files.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or Fee Earner within a law firm, ideally with exposure to managing your own caseload.
  • Understanding of legal procedures and relevant legal documentation.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management software.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Paralegal certification or legal assistant training is a plus.
  • Experience in a specific area of law, such as personal injury, conveyancing, family law, or litigation.

Schedule:

  • Full-time, office-based position with opportunities for professional development.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to grow in the legal field by gaining hands-on experience and taking on a small caseload in a dynamic, client-focused legal environment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
