The posting

We are on an exciting transformation journey to establish a more data-centric organization. As a Data Architect, you will own the architecture of the Data domain and play a key role in enabling our data-driven transformation.

You will work closely with the Chief Data Officer to enable the implementation of the data-driven strategy, collaborate with product teams on data assets and data products, and work closely with Master Data and Engineering teams on data quality, governance, and technology-related matters.

The role reports to the Head of Architecture for architectural governance and is part of the Architecture team, while working closely with the Chief Data Officer on the Data domain's strategic goals and delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Own enterprise data architecture across business domains, defining data architecture principles, canonical data models, integration patterns, and target-state architecture to ensure consistency across business capabilities, applications, and data products.
  • Govern and steer data products, including the data product catalogue, data product boundaries, ownership, and quality standards.
  • Own the Data domain technology roadmap in collaboration with Engineering teams, defining current-state, target-state, and transition stages based on business priorities.
  • Manage technology lifecycle within the Data domain, identifying the need for timely changes and improvements to prevent technical debt.
  • Scan the horizon for emerging technologies and new capabilities within the Data domain and evaluate their potential for the organization.
  • Define and architect solutions across cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure, including streaming, ETL, serverless technologies, analytics, scalability, and cost considerations.
  • Define architecture for AI-ready data analytics and drive PoCs with vendors to unlock new capabilities within the Data domain.
  • Ensure operational data quality through strong governance and data quality gates throughout product development stages, in close collaboration with Master Data teams.
  • Govern and establish standard data product data layers, including standardized data contracts, schemas, APIs, and metadata.
  • Define CI/CD and deployment patterns for data technologies and data quality gates.
  • Act as a technical bridge between business stakeholders, analytics, and Engineering teams, translating strategic transformation goals into a concrete and sequenced architecture roadmap.
  • Act as the main technology and architecture partner for the Master Data team.
  • Be part of the Architecture team, ensuring company-wide architectural principles and governance standards are consistently applied.

We offer:

  • Professional development, training, and career opportunities within the Kesko Senukai Group
  • Additional health insurance after 6 months of employment
  • Bonuses ranging from €600 to €1,700 for referring friends who are successfully hired
  • SMART NET Gold loyalty program membership, with access to exclusive offers and discounts
  • A partner discount platform with even more exclusive offers
  • Additional benefits for important life events, such as the birth of a child, marriage, or bereavement
  • An additional day off for your birthday
  • Comprehensive onboarding, as well as a supportive and proactive team
  • Team-building activities and company events

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in architecture, data engineering, platform engineering, or a related field, including hands-on experience designing large-scale data platforms
  • Proven experience with enterprise data architecture and the design of data platforms in complex organizations
  • Experience leading or significantly contributing to a shift toward a data-product or data-mesh operating model, including data ownership, governance, quality, and consumption
  • Strong hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform and its streaming and analytics ecosystem, such as GCP (Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery) or equivalent AWS/Azure technologies
  • Strong understanding of API design and data-serving patterns, including REST/GraphQL, API gateways, access control, and exposing curated data to internal or external consumers
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata, data contracts, and Master Data concepts
  • Experience working across multi-repository, polyglot technology environments and influencing architecture decisions across teams without direct reporting responsibility
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present and explain architectural strategy to both technical teams and senior executives
  • Ability to translate business and transformation goals into practical, sequenced architecture roadmaps
  • Comfortable using AI tools in daily work for architectural analysis, research, solution design, and evaluation of emerging technologies

Nice to have:

  • Experience working across multiple cloud platforms, particularly AWS, GCP, and Azure.
  • Experience with modern data mesh, data product, or domain-oriented data architecture implementations.
  • Experience with AI/ML data architecture, advanced analytics, or AI-ready data platforms.
  • Experience working with Master Data Management and enterprise data governance frameworks.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps or equivalent CI/CD and deployment tooling.
  • Experience evaluating new data technologies and leading vendor PoCs.
  • Experience in large-scale transformation programs and highly centralized or complex organizational environments.
  • Relevant cloud, data, or architecture certifications.

Salary:

6500 – 8000 € (gross, before taxes).

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
