About the Position

Our client is seeking a Design Manager – Mechanical Engineering with strong process engineering experience to lead mechanical design efforts across a diverse portfolio of industrial and infrastructure projects. This individual will play a key role in coordinating engineering activities, managing design deliverables, and ensuring projects are executed efficiently from conceptual development through final design and construction.

Reporting directly to the Engineering Vice President, the Design Manager will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, and construction professionals to deliver high-quality, constructible designs that align with project requirements, schedules, and budgets.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineering professional to take on a leadership role within a growing design-build organization, contribute to technically challenging projects, and help drive engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee process-related mechanical design, including process piping, equipment layouts, and system integration.
  • Manage design schedules, deliverables, technical reviews, and coordination between engineering disciplines.
  • Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and other engineering disciplines to ensure designs are practical, constructible, and aligned with project objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to mechanical engineers and design personnel.
  • Review engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, and design documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Support project planning, design development, and execution throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering standards, design processes, and overall project efficiency.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Significant experience in mechanical engineering design, preferably within industrial, process, or design-build environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with process engineering, process piping, mechanical systems, and industrial equipment.
  • Experience leading engineering design teams and coordinating multidisciplinary project activities.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design principles, specifications, standards, and codes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, project management, and construction teams.
  • Experience with industrial facilities, infrastructure, or process-driven projects is highly preferred.

Benefits

  • Competetive salary $170,000-$200,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Potential annual incentive bonus of up to 25% of gross salary, based on company and individual performance.
  • Additional holiday bonus equivalent to one-half month's salary, paid during the second week of December.
  • Company-covered cell phone usage.
  • 3% Safe Harbor 401(k) contribution annually.
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), with eligibility after one year of service and vesting over five years.
  • Medical insurance through UnitedHealthcare, with traditional and HSA plan options.
  • Dental and vision insurance.
  • Company-paid life insurance.
  • Company-paid short-term and long-term disability insurance.
  • Optional supplemental coverage through MetLife, including additional life insurance, accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity plans.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
