The posting

About the Company

Our client is an established construction company with a strong reputation for delivering complex, high-value construction projects. With more than a decade of success and a growing pipeline of projects valued up to $35 million, the company combines the stability of an established business with the flexibility and entrepreneurial spirit of an independent organization.

Operating without layers of corporate bureaucracy, the company offers its leaders direct access to ownership, the autonomy to make meaningful decisions, and the opportunity to shape the organization's continued growth.

About the Position

Our client is seeking a Director of Operations to lead day-to-day operations, strengthen project execution, and support the company's long-term growth. This is a hands-on, player-coach leadership role for an experienced construction professional who can balance strategic oversight with direct project involvement when needed.

Reporting directly to the owner, the Director of Operations will oversee operational performance, develop and mentor team members, maintain strong client relationships, and take ownership of the company's financial results. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable setting the strategic direction of the business, evaluating new opportunities, and stepping in to help resolve challenges on a complex project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee daily operations, drive consistent project execution, and maintain high standards for quality, safety, schedule, and profitability.
  • Team Development: Mentor existing employees, recruit and develop future leaders, and build a collaborative culture centered on accountability and performance.
  • Project Oversight: Provide senior-level support to project teams and step in to directly manage complex projects when necessary.
  • Business Development: Represent the company with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders while cultivating relationships that generate repeat business and future opportunities.
  • Strategic Planning: Lead project go/no-go evaluations, assess business opportunities, and help guide the company's growth strategy.
  • Financial Management: Maintain full P&L responsibility for company operations, oversee budgets, protect margins, and use financial and operational metrics to improve performance.
  • Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies, eliminate operational bottlenecks, and implement processes that improve productivity and scalability.

Requirements

  • Proven senior leadership experience within the construction industry.
  • Demonstrated success overseeing complex construction projects valued up to $35 million.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and full profit-and-loss responsibility.
  • Experience leading teams, developing talent, and building a culture of accountability.
  • Strong business development and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to evaluate project opportunities and make sound business decisions.
  • A hands-on leadership style, with the ability to move between executive-level strategy and field-level problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications $225,000-$250,000.
  • Performance-based bonus and financial incentives tied to company profitability.
  • 100% employer-paid health care coverage.
  • Comprehensive health benefits package.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Direct access to ownership and significant operational autonomy.
  • The opportunity to shape company strategy, develop a growing team, and make a lasting impact on the business.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
