The Plant Manager is accountable for safe and compliant operations, contractual availability and reliability, disciplined cost management, long-term stewardship of generating assets, and development of a high-performing 24/7 organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for plant functions, including operations, maintenance, reliability, safety, security, and administration.
  • Own the full site P&L including budgeting, forecasting, labor, maintenance, contractors, inventory, outage costs, capital recommendations, and achievement of financial and contractual commitments.
  • Execute plant objectives, performance metrics, and operating strategies to achieve safety, compliance, availability, reliability, efficiency, production, and cost-performance targets.
  • Ensure the facility is operated and maintained safely, reliably, and efficiently in accordance with permits, contracts, OEM requirements, company standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Direct the operation, maintenance, reliability, and lifecycle stewardship of all generating assets and supporting infrastructure.
  • Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, major outages, overhaul planning, critical-spares management, and long-term asset management strategies to optimize reliability, availability, and lifecycle cost.
  • Oversee plant commercial and contractual obligations, including customer commitments, service agreements, contractor performance, warranties, operating constraints, and long-term service agreements.
  • Serve as the senior site representative for the customer and lead routine operating reviews regarding plant performance, outages, maintenance schedules, business risks, and corrective actions.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, environmental compliance, reliability, equipment performance, and customer service.
  • Foster a strong safety and accountability culture through visible leadership, employee engagement, permit-to-work discipline, change management, training, audits, and emergency preparedness.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain plant personnel.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, operating procedures, work management standards, and performance review processes to drive accountability and operational excellence.
  • Partner with Engineering, Project Management, EH&S, FP&A, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Commercial, IT, OEMs, and contractors to support plant performance, expansion projects, commissioning activities, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure accurate and timely operating records, maintenance documentation, financial forecasts, KPI reporting, compliance records, customer reporting, and protection of operational and customer data.
  • Support plant startups, commissioning, performance testing, modifications, capacity expansions, and the transition of new facilities from project execution into commercial operation.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, operations management, or a related discipline preferred. An equivalent combination of power-generation experience, technical training, and progressive leadership experience may be considered.
  • Valid Driver's License with Motor Vehicle Record within acceptable Company parameters required.
  • Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, Project Management Professional, OSHA, electrical-safety, power-plant-operations, OEM, or reliability credentials preferred, as applicable to the facility.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in power generation, utility operations, independent power production, distributed generation, or a comparable heavy industrial environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive leadership experience managing power-plant operations, maintenance, engineering, or technical teams in a 24/7 environment.
  • Demonstrated accountability for plant or site financial performance, business planning, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and operating results.
  • Experience with natural-gas reciprocating engine or gas-turbine generation and associated electrical, control, fuel, emissions, and balance-of-plant systems required.
  • Experience leading planned outages, major maintenance, reliability improvement, contractor management, warranty or service-agreement administration, and capital-planning activities.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical loads, customer-dedicated generation, data centers, microgrids, utilities, or industrial power facilities preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of power-plant operations and maintenance, equipment reliability, and asset lifecycle management.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, cost optimization, capital prioritization, and economic decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of applicable safety, environmental, electrical, and operating requirements and the ability to translate requirements into plant procedures and controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through managers and supervisors, develop talent, resolve conflict, manage organizational change, and sustain a high-accountability culture.
  • Strong customer leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
