Company Description

At Konecranes, we believe that great customer experience is built on the people behind the Konecranes name. Everything we do, we do with passion and drive. We believe diversity drives business success and is the foundation for our growth. We welcome different backgrounds and skills that enrich our community and we promote a place where we can ALL be ourselves. This is what makes Konecranes a unique place to work.

Job Description

We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Quality team in Continuous Improvement department in BU Quay and BU Horizontal & Yard. In this role, you will be part of the project team ensuring high-quality deliveries for our global customers. You will collaborate closely with multiple stakeholders to make sure that our products meet customer requirements and Konecranes quality standards.

As a Quality Engineer, you will focus on managing nonconformities throughout the project lifecycle, performing root cause analyses and driving corrective and preventive actions. You will work primarily with projects related to your assigned product area. You will prepare project‑specific inspection and test plans, support suppliers in meeting quality expectations, and conduct on-site inspections at supplier locations and occasionally at customer sites. In addition, you will have the opportunity to lead small development initiatives related to your product area or quality processes.

The position is based in Hyvinkää, Finland, with on‑site work required two days per week (Wednesdays and Thursdays) and remote work possible on other days. This role includes occasional global business travel, approximately 20–40 days per year.

Your key responsibilities

  • Nonconformity management for assigned projects in cooperation with internal and external stakeholders
  • Root cause analysis and driving continuous improvement of quality for assigned product
  • Support selected projects by preparing ITP (Inspection and test plan) and FAT protocols (Factory Acceptance Test) based on customer specification and KC standards
  • On-site inspections based on ITP for selected suppliers

Qualifications

What should you bring

To succeed in this role, you are target‑oriented and have strong analytical and communication skills. You are motivated to work in a global environment and enjoy collaborating with suppliers and internal stakeholders across different cultures.

In addition, you bring:

  • A technical educational background (bachelor's or master's degree in electrical, industrial or mechanical engineering) or equivalent competence gained through relevant work experience in quality management.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Previous experience in nonconformity handling, quality assurance, and quality control.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement methods is an advantage.
  • Fluent written and spoken English. Finnish language skills are beneficial.
  • Knowledge of products in the container‑handling industry is considered an asset.

Additional Information

Why join us?

In this role, you will gain a broad understanding of project‑based delivery business and quality management within Port Cranes. You will work closely with our global suppliers and project teams, giving you a clear view of how complex equipment comes together throughout the full delivery lifecycle.

You will join an international, supportive and development‑minded quality team with a strong, positive spirit. The environment promotes learning, collaboration and continuous improvement, and both the team and leadership actively encourage new ideas. You will not only manage the quality of your own product area but also have the chance to influence how our processes, tools and supplier performance evolve. Your contribution genuinely shapes how we work and how our products are delivered.

If you are motivated by learning, collaboration and having a real impact on quality in global projects, this is an excellent place to grow. Want to learn more about Konecranes and what your future colleagues have to say – visit our Career pages!

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
