Overview

At KPMG in Canada, our people bring their unique perspectives to Canada’s most important challenges. Here, you can build momentum that reaches beyond our business, develop skills for the future, and take ownership of your career with support at every stage. Join a firm where your career can make a difference.

KPMG's Financial Services practice is seeking a Consultant to join our Insurance team. The successful candidate will support business and technology transformation initiatives for Insurance organizations in Property & Casualty (P&C), Life & Health (L&H), and Workers’ Compensation. If you are curious about how insurance organizations can design better offerings, support customers and distribution partners, streamline workflows, use data more effectively, and grow sustainably, this role offers the opportunity to work on those questions every day.

Working as part of high-performing engagement teams, the Consultant will contribute to project delivery through research, analysis, stakeholder engagement, process documentation, and the development of client-ready deliverables. You will build consulting capabilities while developing deep Insurance expertise across areas such as Digital, Distribution, Underwriting, Claims, Policy Administration, and Customer Service – and learn how strategy translates into real operational change.

What you will do

  • Support transformation, strategy, target operating model, and process improvement engagements within the Insurance industry, spanning P&C, L&H, and/or Workers’ Compensation.
  • Gather, analyze, and synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to develop actionable insights and recommendations – helping teams identify, assess, and solution the problems that matter most to clients.
  • Conduct current-state assessments, document business processes, identify gaps, and support future-state design across people, process, technology, data, etc. For example, “what work should be performed?,” “who should perform that work?,” “How should it flow?,” “what systems should enable it?,” “what data could unlock better decisions and customer experiences?”Assist in stakeholder interviews, workshops, and requirements gathering sessions with client teams across functions such as Digital, Distribution, Underwriting, Claims, and Operations.
  • Develop polished client deliverables including presentations, reports, business cases, process maps, and status updates – with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to getting the little things right.
  • Support project management activities such as work planning, issue and dependency tracking, meeting coordination, risk management, and workstream orchestration, including on technology-enabled transformations where relevant.
  • Perform market research and industry analysis related to Insurance trends, regulations, customer expectations, distribution models, emerging technologies, and sustainable growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and client stakeholders. You should enjoy client-facing work, be easy to work with, bring energy to the team, and be excited to learn.
  • Contribute to practice development initiatives, including thought leadership, knowledge sharing, and proposal support.

What you bring to the role

  • Ideally 1 to 3 years of experience in management consulting or the Financial Services industry.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in Insurance, including P&C Insurance, Life & Health Insurance, Workers’ Compensation or related Financial Services environments.
  • Experience working with core insurance technology platforms is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with curiosity about how insurance organizations can improve their offerings, operations, customer experience, and growth.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfort working directly with clients and stakeholders.
  • Experience creating polished PowerPoint presentations and Excel-based analyses, with strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Understanding of business process improvement, target operating model concepts, and project delivery methodologies; exposure to people, process, technology, and data considerations is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within team environments; motivated, dependable, and excited to learn.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Commerce, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Previous experience within Insurance (P&C, L&H, and/or Workers’ Compensation), broader Financial Services, or a consulting environment.
  • Exposure to strategy, business transformation, target operating model design, customer experience, digital transformation, process improvement, or large-scale technology-enabled transformation initiatives (e.g., core policy / claims administration system implementations).
  • We also value curiosity about how emerging technologies can improve insurance operations and customer service, including experience exploring, solutioning, piloting, and/or deploying AI-enabled use cases.
  • Professional designations such as CIP, CRM,PMP, or progress toward relevant certifications are considered assets.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies, data analysis tools, and/or insurance technology platforms is an asset.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
