Overview

At KPMG in Canada, our people bring their unique perspectives to Canada’s most important challenges. Here, you can build momentum that reaches beyond our business, develop skills for the future, and take ownership of your career with support at every stage. Join a firm where your career can make a difference.

Our Valuations practice combines technical expertise, commercial judgment and practical experience to help clients understand and communicate value. We provide valuation advice for businesses, business interests and intangible assets across a range of needs, including transactions, financial reporting, tax, disputes, shareholder matters, strategic planning and financial modelling.

As a Senior Consultant, you will work on varied and complex engagements across industries and company sizes. Your workday will include interacting with clients, stakeholders, and internal senior personnel while applying sound judgment, producing clear and well-supported analysis, and managing work to important reporting deadlines.

You will build your technical, analytical, project management and communication skills in a collaborative environment that values curiosity, coaching and continuous improvement. You will also have opportunities to expand your professional network, deepen your business acumen and progress toward the Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designation.

What you will do

  • Perform and manage valuation assignments in support of transactions, financial reporting, audit, tax and other advisory services across a diverse range of industries.
  • Manage multiple workstreams and engagements, including planning, prioritizing tasks, monitoring progress and delivering high-quality work on time.
  • Review and analyze business plans, financial statements, agreements, board materials, financial models and other financial and operational information.
  • Develop and review financial models, apply appropriate valuation methodologies and perform sensitivity, scenario and other financial analyses using tools such as Bloomberg and Capital IQ.
  • Conduct industry, company and economic research, and translate the findings into clear valuation insights and supportable conclusions.
  • Prepare, review and edit reports, analyses, memoranda and presentations that are technically sound, concise and tailored to the intended audience.
  • Interact professionally with clients and stakeholders at all levels, including senior management and C-suite executives, as well as KPMG partners and senior leaders.
  • Serve as a valuation specialist on audit engagements by working closely with audit teams, understanding the relevant reporting requirements, communicating findings clearly and meeting critical deadlines.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive and collaborative team culture in which people learn from one another and share ideas and experience.
  • Use technology, data tools and AI-enabled solutions responsibly to improve the quality and efficiency of our work, while applying professional judgment and following applicable policies.

What you bring to the role

  • A CPA or CFA designation, or progress toward one of these designations, together with 3+ years of relevant post-graduate work experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, economics, business or another relevant field.
  • Enrollment in, or an intention to enroll in, the CBV Program, with a strong interest in obtaining the CBV designation.
  • Relevant experience in valuation, financial modelling, transaction advisory, audit, corporate finance or a related field.
  • Strong financial modelling skills, including the ability to build, review and interpret integrated financial models and valuation analyses.
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and/or other accounting standards, including fair value considerations.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to present complex financial and valuation concepts clearly, accurately and concisely.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and confidence working with clients, audit teams and internal stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
  • Sound project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities, maintain attention to detail and meet deliverable timelines.
  • A proactive, curious and adaptable mindset, with the ability to work independently while knowing when to seek input or escalate issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professional maturity and a demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with a diverse group of clients and colleagues.
  • Proficiency with valuation and financial analysis tools, and an interest in using technology and AI responsibly to enhance analysis, collaboration and deliverables.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
