Health and Safety Assistant - Educational Off Site Visits Team

Help make educational visits safe, successful and inspiring for children and young people across Lancashire.

The Educational Off Site Visits Team provides specialist health and safety advice, guidance and support to Lancashire County Council services and almost 600 schools across Lancashire. Our work helps ensure educational visits are planned and delivered safely, allowing children and young people to benefit from valuable learning experiences beyond the classroom.

We are looking to appoint a Health and Safety Assistant to join our supportive and experienced team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in health and safety who is keen to develop their skills and build a career within a professional advisory environment.

Working closely with schools, managers, educational visit coordinators and council services, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of health and safety services across Lancashire.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting the development and implementation of Educational Off Site Visits policies, procedures and guidance.
  • Maintaining and updating the EVOLVE educational visits management system.
  • Providing advice and support to schools and council services on educational visits and health and safety processes.
  • Monitoring educational visit submissions and assisting with reporting activities.
  • Collecting and analysing accident and incident data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Producing communications, guidance materials and information updates.
  • Responding to customer enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Supporting the delivery of training and development sessions for Educational Visit Co-ordinators and other stakeholders.
  • Assisting advisers during visits to schools and council sites to gain practical experience of health and safety management.

We are seeking an organised and motivated individual with:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
  • A customer-focused approach to service delivery.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A willingness to learn and develop professionally within a health and safety environment.

What We Offer

This role provides a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a specialist health and safety team. Support may be available to undertake recognised professional qualifications, including NEBOSH Certificate training and IOSH membership, helping you develop your career in health and safety.

This is a full-time post (37 hours per week, Monday to Friday). Occasional travel across Lancashire may be required.

Join us and help ensure that children and young people across Lancashire can enjoy safe, enriching and memorable educational experiences.

The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). If successful you will be required to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a 'disclosure'. Further information can be found on the 'Our Recruitment Process' tab.

In return Lancashire County Council offers a range of benefits, which can be found on LCC Vacancies website.

We reserve the right to close down a vacancy early, before the closing date, if we receive sufficient applications.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.
