Graphic Design Lecturer Job Purpose: To deliver industry-relevant, practice-oriented Graphic Design education that develops students into creative, critical and employable visual communication professionals. The role bridges contemporary design practice and academic learning by teaching, mentoring students through real-world projects, and contributing to curriculum development and academic activities that uphold LaSalle College Jakarta's academic quality and industry reputation. Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Learning Delivery
Plan and deliver engaging, practice-oriented Graphic Design courses in line with approved course outlines and learning outcomes. Introduce contemporary design practice, including visual storytelling, branding, advertising and creative direction. Use current design software (Adobe Creative Suite) and digital workflows in teaching and demonstrations.
Student Project Guidance & Assessment
Guide students through design projects from concept development and research to final execution. Assess student work fairly and consistently against assessment criteria, and submit grades on schedule. Provide timely, constructive feedback that builds students' creative and critical-thinking skills.
Mentoring & Portfolio Development
Mentor students in developing their creative and professional portfolios. Support students' career readiness by sharing professional practices and industry expectations.
Curriculum Development & Academic Activities
Contribute to the review and development of the Graphic Design curriculum, course materials and assessments. Participate in academic meetings, moderation, exhibitions, juries and other programme activities. Support academic quality and accreditation processes, including required documentation.
Industry Engagement
Bring relevant industry experience, trends and professional practices into the classroom. Contribute to industry-oriented initiatives such as live briefs, guest lectures, competitions and partner projects.
Professional Conduct & Compliance
Uphold LaSalle College Jakarta's academic policies, code of conduct and safeguarding standards in all interactions with students. Maintain current knowledge of design practice and teaching methods through continuous professional development.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (S1) in Visual Communication Design (DKV) or a closely related DKV discipline. Master's degree (S2) in Design or a relevant field. Professional industry experience in Graphic Design, Advertising, Art Direction or Social-First Creative (preferred). Previous teaching or mentoring experience (an advantage). Strong knowledge and practical experience in Graphic Design and Visual Communication Design. Good understanding of design principles, typography, layout, branding and creative development. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and digital design workflows. Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Must not hold an active NIDN/NUPTK affiliation or be registered as a lecturer/teacher at another university or educational institution. Passionate about working with young creatives and developing their creative and professional capabilities. Willing to contribute to academic activities, curriculum development, student projects and industry-oriented initiatives.
